CAMPUS NEWS
PE MARCH MADNESS AND PTA MEETING, TUESDAY, MARCH 5TH - Join us for a super fun evening of Basketball for our PE March Madness Night this coming Tuesday, March 5th! Our b-bal activities will begin right after our PTA Membership Meeting at 5:45 p.m.
Activities Include:
- Knockout Tournament - in the gym
- Bean Bag Basketball - in the purple hallway
- Trashketball - in the library
- Head Top Basketball - on the playground patio
- Dribbling Relays - in the main hallway
- Basketball Musical Chairs - in the music room
STUDENT CELL PHONES - Parents, we have had some challenges with students following cell phone expectations according to the handbook. Some students are going to their lockers to grab phones and use them in the restroom. Students should have cell phones and smart watches turned off during the school day. Any communication can be received at the front office, an email to the teacher, or through Remind. We are asking for your help to reiterate these expectations with your child. - BISD Handbook Pg 57: Instructional Use of Personal Telecommunications and Other Electronic Devices
- Students must obtain prior approval to use personal telecommunications or other personal electronic devices for instructional purposes while on campus. Students must also sign a user agreement that contains applicable rules for use (separate from this handbook). All personal devices must be turned off during the instructional day when not in use for approved instructional purposes. Violations of the user agreement may result in withdrawal of privileges and other disciplinary action.
EARLY VOTING INFORMATION FOR THE MARCH 5 TEXAS PRIMARY - Early voting for the March 5 Texas primary is happening February 20 - March 1. Election Day is March 5. Texas has an open primary, which means that any registered voter can choose to vote in either party’s primary election — regardless of how you have voted in the past. Learn more. Most voters do not participate in these often-decisive elections. Only 18 percent of registered Texas voters participated in the 2022 March. Exercise your civic duty and vote.

STUDENT TRANSER WINDOW OPENED FEBRUARY 12TH - The transfer window will be open February 12th - March 15th. All current transfer students must reapply for the 2024-2025 school year. Information can be found HERE. There is a new and improved process and while it will still be done electronically, all documents needed to complete the process will be required to be uploaded at the time of the application. Attendance, academic, and discipline records can be accessed and downloaded from your Skyward Family Access account. It is imperative that applications are submitted during the transfer window.
PHOTO ID REMINDER - Our office staff will scan your photo ID every time you visit our campus.
Please make sure you are bringing a photo ID with you when checking in to eat lunch with your student, or when checking out your student. The safety of our students and our staff are a top priority and appreciate your understanding and assistance with this process. When exiting, we ask that you turn in your visitor badge with our front office to be signed out.

✔️ IMPORTANT REMINDERS
BIRTHDAY TREATS AND FAVOR BAGS - Birthday treats MUST be pre-packaged, individually packed store bought items. Please do not bring any cakes, cupcakes, cookie cakes as they are not already individually wrapped from the store. Pre-packaged birthday treats or favor bags will be handed out at the end of the day and sent home with students for them to enjoy.

Our office staff will be scanning your ID every time you visit our campus. DISMISSAL TRANSPORTATION CHANGES - Please make sure you call our front office at 254-316-5000 no later than 2:00 p.m. for any dismissal transportation changes for your student. We will get a note down to your student's teacher to let them know of the change. Sometimes Teachers miss notes in backpacks or remind messages about dismissal changes so it is very important to notify the front office so that they can communicate those changes. Please also give our office a call if someone other than yourself (parent/guardian) will be checking out, or picking your student up early.
STUDENT LUNCHES - Families are welcome to eat lunch with their students any day of the week. We ask that all visitors bring their ID and sign in at the front office for a visitors pass. We do not allow food deliveries from any delivery service to the campus for students (ex. Doordash, Favor, Waiter, Grubhub). Parents/Guardians may drop food off in the front office for their student to enjoy, but we cannot accept food deliveries from a delivery service. Students who do not have a lunch from home are always allowed to eat a tray from the cafeteria.
COLD WEATHER ATTIRE - As the weather gets colder and wet, please make sure to send students in cold weather appropriate clothing and outerwear. Items to consider sending your students to school in include: long sleeved tops, long pants, cold weather shoes, jackets, and gloves. Please make sure to LABEL all of your students gear.
