As we begin planning for the 2025-2026 school year, we will soon begin making class lists, based on an estimate of the enrollment projections. One priority as an administrator is to visit classrooms regularly. We know the instructional skills of every teacher, because we have observed them. I could not, in all honesty, tell you that one teacher on the staff is better than another. Teaching involves hundreds of sub skills, and no one teacher is best at all of them. Wilmeth is fortunate to have a staff with multiple strengths and many specializations.
When we assemble classes, we make them heterogeneous. The major factors we consider are: the childโs demonstrated achievement in reading and math, the type of learner; whether the child is receiving specialized services; the quality of the studentโs citizenship; the studentโs work habits; how his/her personality will fit with the others in the class; if his/her leadership potential will have an opportunity to develop in class; and the boy-girl ratio in the class. This is a complicated process, and is based upon our best assessment of each child.
We do not base such important decisions on social factors. We group children for instructional purposes. Placing children in classes based on any other factors would defeat this purpose.
If you would like to provide us with the type of classroom environment that you think is best for your child, an information form will be available in the front office or you may request a form from Mrs. Ellis. Please know that this form is not a teacher selection form. Please trust us to make the best placement possible.
All forms must be completed and returned by April 21, 2025.

We have moved up our registration timeline for our returning McKinney ISD students. As we prepare for open enrollment, our priority is ensuring that all residential students secure their place in MISD. To help us serve our students effectively, we encourage you to complete your childโs registration as soon as possible. Registering early allows district leaders to make informed decisions regarding class sizes, teacher assignments, and campus needs.
Snap codes for students who were enrolled with MISD were sent out the week of March 3rd. Parents will need to complete their student's registration to have access to their student's 2025-26 schedule (secondary) and homeroom teacher (elementary).

Choose McKinney ISD
McKinney ISD announces Choose McKinney ISD, an exciting new initiative that allows families the flexibility to enroll their children in McKinney ISD schools, even if they reside outside the districtโs boundaries. Choose McKinney ISD is available to those entering Kindergarten - 8th grade who reside within McKinney ISD (intradistrict), students who reside outside of McKinney ISD (interdistrict), and those seeking to participate in specific programs within McKinney ISD.
Choose McKinney ISD includes an application process based on eligibility requirements and campus availability at selected campuses.

MISD Summer Enrichment Camps
McKinney ISD is excited to host the MISD Summer Enrichment Camps again this year. These camps are conducted by MISD teachers for children completing kindergarten through 5th grade. A variety of camps will be offered for 5 weeks, June 2, 2025 โ July 11, 2025. You do not have to be a resident of McKinney or a student in McKinney ISD to attend camps.
Summer camps are $109.00 per camp/per student. Refunds will be granted when requested by noon, five working days prior to the start of camp.

The MISD Club 360 Summer Program 2025 offers daily rates to accommodate any schedule. Parents pay a one-time registration fee and are charged only for the days their student(s) attend the program.

Student Cellphones & Smartwatches
Possession and Use of Personal Telecommunications Devices, Including Cell Phones, and Other Electronic Devices (See Appendix I) The district permits students to possess personal cell phones for safety purposes; however, these devices must remain turned off during the instructional day, including during all testing, unless they are being used for approved instructional purposes. Devices should be kept in student backpacks during the school day.
