Greetings Team Bridgetown! This week’s activities will closely mimic last week due to the snow day. On Tuesday we will travel to the Deal library to pick books for the 3rd book project. Students need to submit their book choices by Friday. We will be hosting our Socratic Seminar on Wednesday and starting Unit 3 with a research assignment.
New Book Alert! We will be starting Unit 3 and reading “Inside Out & Back Again” by Thanhha Lai. Students who wish to have their own copy of the book should bring it in by February 24.
Science - Ms. Banson
Hi Team Bridgetown,
Next week, students will compare geocentric and heliocentric models of the solar system, examining the beliefs and institutions that influenced both astronomers and the general public when these theories were first introduced. We will conclude the week with a scale model activity, allowing students to better visualize the vast distances and proportions within our solar system and the universe.
Students will also complete the calculation of scaled distances classwork. If they do not finish in class, it will be assigned as homework and will be due on Friday, February 21.
Additionally, Roots Quiz 3.4 will take place on Friday, February 21. The root words for this quiz are:
aqua = water (e.g., aquarium, aquatic)
cumulo = heap (e.g., cumulative, cumulonimbus)
cirrus = curl (e.g., cirrostratus)
photo = light (e.g., photosynthesis, photograph)
nimbus = dark cloud (e.g., cumulonimbus, nimbostratus)
Keepers are: angle, deci, semi, alp, morph, sed, gram, hydro, iso

Hello! This past week, we intended to take a two-day quiz starting Wednesday, but as we all know, that plan went awry. I’m sure your students are very disappointed about it 😉
We will start this coming week with an RST where students will show their understanding of the process, causes, and effects of global population growth and urbanization. We will finish out the short week with another urbanization activity and begin our sub-unit analyzing political cartoons.
ELA Resource - Ms. White
Greetings! This past week students wrote a Summative Essay about the 2 texts “Eleven” and “The Scholarship Jacket” to compare and contrast the characters as well as the conflict between the 2 stories. Next week we will begin our poetry unit, and we will also be taking a trip to the library to select a book for our next Book Project, which will be due in April.
