Principal Message
Dear Parents and Guardians,
As we end the last week before Christmas Break, we send to you kids tired after another big week. Of course Wednesday night's concert was the highlight of the week for many students, but it was not the only event.
Tuesday afternoon we had our Wildwood Christmas Toy Raffle in which students are called down to the office and a pick a gift. We are able to put this on due to the valuable donations from our school advisory council, GYPSD central office staff toy drive, and individual donations. It is through the contributions of our local and wider community that we are able to ensure that every student gets a little something this holiday season. A special thank you to School Council Chair Mrs. Carla Gylander who did much of the purchasing for this years event.
On Wednesday night we had the Christmas Concert which was incredibly well attended. Rough estimates put the number of attendees north of 250 people. Students put on amazing series of performances tied together with the story of the Grinch. Ryder as the Grinch, Carson as Max the dog, Devonee as Cindy Lou Who and Ryley and the mayor provided exposition, and the 5/6 class provided narration.
At the conclusion of the concert we took a few moments to recognize Ms. Lisl Gunderman's long career here at Wildwood School. While road conditions prevented some from making the trip many members of the community, friends and family of Ms. Gunderman's and representatives of government in attandance. Mr. Shane Getson (MLA), Mrs. Maxine Hilderbrandt, Mr. Ed Witchen, Mrs. Connie Gatske, and former student Jazlynn Mochniuk all gave wonderful speeches talking about the amazing commitment and impact that Ms. Gunderman has had to the teaching profession and Wildwood community. You can find a letter from Ms. Gunderman below.
On Thursday, The School Advisory Council provided students with a wonderful pancake breakfast. Also on Thursday Mr. Ehnes' grade 2s got a chance to handle some authentic Inuit artifacts in connection with their social students unit.
On Friday, we had PJ Day. Mrs. Fehr took on the task of making popcorn for all our students for our afternoon film.
We also take this time to recognize Mrs. Jenna Robinson in grade K/1 and her contributions to our school community. She will be taking some time off to add to her family and will be returning to us next school year. Miss Stephanie Jonzon has accepted the position in the K/1 class and was in two days this week to meet the students. Please take a moment to welcome Miss Jonzon to our community when you meet her.
From all of us here at Wildwood School we wish you a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays.
Classes will resume January 6th, 2025. See you all next year!
If you have any questions or concerns you can always reach out to the school through the office or email me at alanstoy@gypsd.ca.
Sincerely,
Alan Stoyles
Principal

Student Learning Over The Break
As we enter the break it does not mean that students stop learning.
Want to work on math? All students have access to their online math programs they can continue to work on.
Want to work on reading? One of the best ways to improve students reading is to read with someone, take time to read an interesting new book or old classic together.
