Religious Observance-Absence Exemption
Dear Lakeville Area Schools Families,
We hope this message finds you well. As we continue to approach a season of many religious observations, we want to remind our community that Lakeville Area Schools supports students and families who wish to observe holidays that fall during student contact days.
If your child will be staying home from school for religious observance, it will be considered an excused absence. We understand the significance of these holidays, and teachers have been informed to make reasonable accommodations, including offering time to make up any missed assignments. Teachers have also been asked to avoid scheduling assessments or major projects on this day.
Our district process aligns with Minnesota State Statute 120A.35, which ensures that students may be excused from school for religious observances. Reasonable efforts are made by the district to accommodate these requests, and we strive to create a supportive environment for all students.
If you have any questions or need further information, please don’t hesitate to contact your child’s school.
Thank you for your continued partnership.
High Frequency Words
Lakeville Area Schools has compiled an updated list of High Frequency Words, which are words that appear most often in print. Recognizing high-frequency words with ease is crucial for students to develop into skilled readers.
Please scan the QR code or visit the bit/ly below to find out more about High Frequency Words and how you can help support at home.
Device Protection Deadline is October 18
Lakeville Area Schools offers an optional protection plan for student devices (iPads). Payment for device protection must be made by October 18, 2024.
Annual Cost: $25 per student. Reduced price options are available based on Educational Benefit Status.
Coverage begins upon receipt of the payment. Payment must be submitted via the Infinite Campus School Store by October 18 to have coverage for the school year. New families joining the district will have 2 weeks from enrollment to add coverage.
The protection plan does not cover lost devices and lost, stolen, damaged or inoperable charging cords.
Please review the details of the device protection plan and payment information on our Device Protection webpage.

🔍Referendum Fast Fact: Support for Every Student📊
As our community grows, so does our student enrollment, which has increased by 9% since 2014. But despite this growth, our support systems haven’t kept up. Currently, our K-12 student to student support staff ratio is 512:1, significantly higher than neighboring districts.
If approved, the Succeeding Together referendum will provide more educational support and opportunities for our students including:
🧠 Additional counselors, behavioral specialists and social workers
🎨🎶 Restored full-time art and music teachers at elementary schools
💻 Restored full-time media specialists at elementary and middle schools
It's our job to provide the support our community expects and our students deserve. Learn more about the referendum: www.isd194.org/succeedingtogether

If you need to pick your child up before our end-of-the-day dismissal, we are asking you to do this before 3:30 p.m. Due to heavy volume in the front office, we cannot check out students from 3:30-3:55 p.m due to capacity. We made this change to ensure we get each child where they need to be. We appreciate you picking up your child before 3:30 p.m. or at dismissal.
