Leopard News
Dear LentK5 Families,
We can’t believe we have 10 days to go! We wanted to continue to express our appreciation to you all, and our gratitude for your commitment to working alongside us to bring excellence for our learners. We sincerely value our collective work with you all.
Please know that we have our amazing P.E. teacher organizing a field day on June 12th, and if you like to volunteer, and have had your background check please contact Kelly Schlottmann at kritter@pps.net or use this link Volunteer Sign Up form.
June is Pride Month! LentK5 school and PPS are committed to creating a safe and inclusive community for our gender diverse and LGBTQ+ students. Here is an informational video on the history of Pride Month: Pride Month.
Sincerely,
Dr. Amor and Mr. Interian

SCHOOL NEWS
ENTERING SCHOOL
We wanted to send a reminder about entering the school premise. At Lent, Volunteers/Visitors coming to our building should be going to the main door, pressing the call button, and awaiting a directive from office staff. Please do not enter the building through any other doors and please do not enter without first speaking to the office, via the call button. Please remember, even with an approved volunteer application, on-campus meetings need to be pre-arranged with classrooms, Office Staff, or Admin.
We have been asked about volunteer opportunities. We would like to communicate that there is a process that we are in need to follow. The first step is to fill an application, use this link for more information: https://www.pps.net/Page/143. After you get cleared, the next step is to contact your child's teacher and inquire about volunteering opportunities. Please know that if classroom teachers are not in need of volunteers, they are in their contract right. However, we may need you in other areas, so please feel free to contact the office for us to plan accordingly. Thank you for your understanding.
EARLY START SCHOOL
Next school year, school will open at 7:50am. Students will have the option of going to the cafeteria for breakfast. The first bell will ring at 7:55am and students will be able to walk directly to class. The instructional day will begin promptly at 8:00am and will end at 2:30pm. Attendance matters! Please be sure your child arrives at school on time and is at school every day unless they are sick.
EVACUATE
Move students and staff from one location to another. For fire evacuations, the general rule is to move 50 feet away from the building in 60 seconds.
Students:
Leave stuff behind. Form a single line. Move quickly and safely to the directed location.
NOTES:
It is important to have identified evacuation assembly locations and having a method in place for accounting for all students. Typically teachers will use red or green cards to signal that green (all accounted for) or red (there are missing students and I require assistance).
It is equally important for students and staff to practice using alternate means of evacuation. In an actual emergency, it is possible that your primary evacuation route may be blocked. It is necessary to consider alternate routes of egress to allow for the safe evacuation of everyone out of the building.
EKT

CONNECT TO KINDER

If your child is 5 on or before September 1, 2024, it's time to ENROLL IN KINDERGARTEN! Kindergarten enrollment opened March 1.
All Kindergarten students should be enrolled at their neighborhood school, even if you have applied to the lottery for a PPS focus program. Applying to the lottery does NOT enroll your child at their neighborhood school. If they lottery into a focus program that is not housed at their neighborhood school, your student's record will be transferred to the focus school; you will not have to enroll them a second time.

LIBRARY CORNER
Please Return Lent Library Books!
As we near the end of the school year, we are reminding families to return library and textbook materials before students leave for the summer! Please check your email and your child’s backpack for library account notices regarding individual student library materials still outstanding.
Please check your shelves, under the bed, behind the couch, everywhere! for books to return to the library. Contact me at ahanson1@pps.net if you have any questions. By returning the books, you help us keep our library and textbook materials available and ready for all to use at the start of the next school year.
Access to PPS online applications during the summer
Students will have access to most applications via the my.pps.net portal during the summer. Students who enroll in summer school may notice changes in some applications once summer school begins. Most PPS Digital Toolkit applications will remain active throughout the summer. Applications may be temporarily unavailable at the beginning of August as PPS shifts to the 2024-25 school year.
Please note that during the summer months, teachers are not active inside the digital tools and applications.
