Pleasant Valley Weekly News

Dear PV Families,
This week was filled with joy and excitement as we celebrated the moving-up ceremony of the Class of 2037 from POP to Kindergarten. Our POP teachers and paraprofessionals did an amazing job planning and executing the ceremony. A heartfelt thank you to our Preschool staff for the incredible work they’ve done with our students throughout the school year.
We also concluded our Kindergarten visits this week. If you have not started or completed your paperwork for Kindergarten registration, please do so as soon as possible.
Our Kindergarten Parent Orientation will be held on Monday, June 3rd, at 6:30 PM. Doors will open at 6:00 PM; kindly use the gym entrance.
Mrs. Langlois’ 5th-grade class engaged in a Genius Hour event, inviting parents to display and share their "passion" projects. We are proud of our students, teacher and grateful for the parents who came to support them.
Our Field Day will be on Thursday, June 6th. This is a student and staff-only event. Please ensure your child comes to school with sneakers on for the day. Additionally, our 5th-grade senior trip to the VMP is on June 3rd.
Our final PTO meeting for the year is on Thursday, June 6th. This is a very special and important meeting as it is our election night. Interested candidates must attend, whether nominated or self-nominated, to run for the positions. The current board will answer any questions about the roles during the meeting. We are looking to fill the roles of President (or Co-Presidents), Vice President (or Co-Vice Presidents), and Treasurer. The meeting code will be on the PTO site and will be sent out on the day of the meeting as a reminder.
Please see below for pictures of the week, and additional upcoming events.
Sincerely,
Esther & Jenna

Important message from the health office
As this school year comes to a close, this is a friendly reminder that any student with medication at school will need to be picked up from the health office no later than the last day of school, Thursday June 13th. Medication that is not picked up by the last day of school will be discarded.
In planning for next year, we have enclosed an authorization to administer medication form for your student for the 2024-2025 school year. This is necessary for any student who will require medication during school hours. The state of Connecticut requires medications to be renewed by an authorized prescriber (i.e. physician, dentist, optometrist, APRN, PA) every year for each medication.
Bus transportation for next school year
A completed transportation form is required for all SWPS students, except for Role Model POP children. This electronic form can be found by logging into your PowerSchool Parent Portal account, located in the "Forms" section. If you have any difficulty in accessing your account, please contact the school's main office for assistance.
Bus stops are determined by this form therefore, it is extremely important this form is completed no later than June 30th to allow for the timely creation of the 2024-2025 bus routes. Please know this form can be updated and/or changed at any time however, no changes will be processed between the moratorium dates of 8/21/24 to 9/04/24. Please allow five (5) days to process any changes.
