Today, the Walnut High School of Arts held a Performing Arts Assembly showcasing their talent and creativity! Our school's talented orchestra, jazz band, choir, dance, drama, color guard, and percussion delivered exceptional performances in front of over 2,000 students. It was a fantastic opportunity for students to witness the incredible talents of their peers and be inspired by the diverse artistic expressions. The event not only celebrated the hard work and dedication of our performing arts groups but also gave our students a chance to hear about upcoming performances, tryouts, and classes available. Kudos to all the performers for making the assembly a memorable experience!

Congrats to nine Walnut High School Wrestlers who qualified for the California State Wrestling Championship. This team also features 8 CIF Individual Champions & 4 Southern Section Masters Champions. They started wrestling yesterday with the hopes of making it to championship Saturday! Wish them luck!

On Thursday, our leadership team provided a free lunch for seniors who "met/exceeded" or leveled up on the state test last year! We served hot dogs to over 300 Seniors! Big thank you to ASB for providing the lunch!

Starting in March, our Juniors will take the State test in English, Math, and Science.

Shoutout to our Choir Director, Mrs. Lisa Lopez, who took our Choir kids to San Diego last weekend for a competition. It was the first overnight trip since 2019 for our Choir students. They took first place in showmanship and musicianship. Senior Caroline Lim won the award for best performer.

Class of 2025, 2026 and 2027 Walnut High School students should have received an email from their GLC via Sign Up Genius with a link to select their summer registration appointment.

Parents, please coordinate with your student your preferred date and time! Sibling appointments will not be made for you.

PLEASE NOTE: INCOMING FRESHMAN WILL RECEIVE THEIR EMAIL INVITATIONS ON MARCH 13TH.

Registration appointments will be held from July 1 - July 26.

IMPORTANT: Student schedules will be created in June based on their course request selections. There is no benefit or drawback to selecting the first summer or last appointments; please set the appointment time that best fits your schedule. Summer appointments are to review schedules, check for scheduling mistakes, and to ensure that your student is taking the most appropriate courses for their grade level and post-secondary plans. Teacher change requests will not be honored.

The Dual Enrollment Program between Walnut High School and Mt. SAC will give you that opportunity. This wonderful partnership provides students the chance to receive college units before they graduate from high school. To qualify, students must be in the 10th grade. In order to receive college credits, students must successfully pass with a "C" or above.

Tickets are now available for purchase at the ASB office. Come with your posse to purchase tickets and we will put all of you on the same bus!

Ticket price is $140 w/ASB card and $155 w/out. Cash or checks (please make checks payable to Walnut High School.)

WVWD’s annual High School Media Contest and this year’s theme is “Let’s Dive In: Why Water Professionals Matter”. Below are a few key details for the contest:

Swing by the Library after school for FREE tutoring! Student tutors will be there Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30pm-5:00pm and available to help our students study for tests, assist with homework problems, or help answer any questions!

Due to many problems and safety issues we DO NOT allow student lunches to be delivered anywhere on campus.

Food, drinks or other items are NOT to be passed to students through the fence. This is strictly prohibited.

Outside Food Delivery Services such as UBER Eats/Door Dash is strictly prohibited. Food will be confiscated if deliveries are dropped off.

We understand the importance of student nutrition but we encourage students to either use the free lunch at school or bring their lunch from home.

Students without a 6th-period class must immediately exit campus (E-F gate) after their 5th-period class. Thank you for your support in keeping our campus safe! Students continually caught wandering around campus will be assigned a 6th-period class.

Parking permits are required for students to park in the student lot. A student must have a parking permit to park in the student lot located by the Softball Field. In order to receive a parking permit, the student must complete the on-line application, HERE. The requirements are listed below:

• Complete Student Parking Application
• Download California Driver's License
• Download evidence of vehicle insurance coverage with student listed as insured driver

Once the Parking Application is completed stickers will be issued by Mrs. Markel at the Assistant Principal's office. If you had a parking decal last year, you MUST complete the form again this year and replace your old sticker. You must display the sticker on your car before parking in our lot. You have until the end of the week to pick up your sticker. WVUSD is NOT responsible for any damage or theft of the vehicle, this includes any articles left in it.

BIRTHDAY MARQUEE is now available! If you have a student that has a birthday coming up, be sure to make a birthday dedication on the WHS marquee! All proceeds goes to support WHS students and staff so RESERVE YOURS TODAY!

Please remember that attendance counts, every period, every day. Students will be marked absent if they are not at the beginning of each period to verify their attendance.

All single-period absences will need to be reconciled through the attendance office by the student. If marked absent, students will receive an email from the attendance office notifying them that they have been marked absent. The notification will include the date and period of the absence. The student will need to contact the Attendance Department to make any necessary corrections to their individual period attendance. For full-day absences, a parent/guardian must contact the attendance office by the end of the day.

Students must attend every class, every day, and be on time. In order to receive daily credit, students are to bring all necessary materials to class. Students will not be excused from class to get materials. Homework and class assignments are to be completed on time and to the best of the student’s ability. Only behaviors befitting the learning environment are acceptable. Students are to comply with all reasonable requests of any staff member. Dress code will be enforced.

During summer registration, students and their guardians watched the rules and expectations video for the upcoming school year. If you did not have a chance to watch it, please take a minute to view the video to help you be successful this year!

Parents: One thing you will notice this year are tardy or cell phone detention automated emails. If your child was issued a detention for excessive tardies or a cell phone violation, you will get an email with information on the detention they need to serve.
