CBC Hospitality Team
Caring for those who care
A Guide for Hospitality Team
- To Pray informed for each of our Leaders. We need to check in with each of them and ask them how they would like us to pray for them as well as what to pray for. What they ask for may reveal where we can come alongside and meet some of their needs as well. This is where our team can encourage them by getting others to pray for them (CBC community, CBC Youth, Staff, etc.) and then letting them know that we are praying for them.
- Attached to the first point, we need to set up a system of checking up with each of our leaders. Whether that be a text, phone call, email, or in-person meet-up, our goal is to cover each of them multiple times this semester.
- We'll try to do most of the training and resourcing needs as a team, but what hospitality can do is to see if there are unique topics/challenges that each of the leaders needs help with (i.e. understanding LGBT & Christianity, need more help with counseling) and then we can get them the resources they need individually.
- Highlight special occasions! This is a fun one. We get to do life with them as they are here. We want to celebrate their birthday, cheer them on when they go through different jobs or promotions. Be the first ones to set up meal trains when they have a new baby. We can even just send them special treats just because (i.e. "scheduled" spontaneity)
- Finally, let's recruit as many people onto this extremely special team as we can. Let us help grow the heart for those who serve and we can actually change the culture of our church when it comes to volunteers. Instead of getting people to serve to death, let us treasure our volunteers.
Kara Powell: Sustainable leader care practices
