Collegiate Administrator Tidbits
Welcome to Online/Digital Learning! Thank you for your patience and flexibility as we continue with our transition from face-to-face to digital learning. The faculty and staff at H-TECH are working diligently to create systems that support this transition. Our goal is to ensure that we communicate with you on a weekly basis to keep you informed and connected.
To date, your scholar:
- should have received a laptop/Chromebook for our campus
- connected with their instructors via Google Classroom.
- connected/communicated with his/her El Centro College professor
- completed a daily check in with each HS instructor for attendance purposes.
- completed 2 assignments for each HS class.
If you have not received a laptop/Chromebook or your scholar has not completed the above steps, do not hesitate to contact us for support with getting caught up. Our H-TECH team looks forward to communicating and supporting our scholars!
Sincerely,
Ashley A. Duncan

Math in Action
As part of our online learning during this pandemic, we will have a collaborative group work project. Students will work in teams to evaluate a distributor of crafts and gifts. Students will be presented with a four page business study where they will use mathematics to help improve the efficiency of business finances. The article will be made available in the second week of the online curriculum and students will have 10 days to work in teams to analyse and write up a plan for their success. After all the plans have been submitted the groups will present their findings live and online on Zoom. I look forward to reading and reviewing
your great ideas.
Dr. A. Fiamengo
This week Pre-AP Biology students have been busy reviewing previously learned concepts about ecosystems through a variety of interactive assignments. Next week we will continue studying ecosystems looking at how disturbances and changes can impact an ecosystem/environment.
Over spring break a few students took advantage of a bonus point opportunity and shared examples of ecological succession found in their neighborhood. See Arely Romero's example in this picture. Ask your student to explain to you whether this is an example of primary or secondary succession. Next week we'll be hunting students' camouflaged "moths" though a bonus point opportunity tying together our current study of ecology with previously studied natural selection and evolution.
Parents, if you have an email address, I highly recommend that you sign up for Guardian summaries on Google Classroom to help you keep abreast of your student's assignments and due dates.
