November 17: Poetry Feast

Monday-Wednesday (October 17-19th), all 2nd Graders took the Cognitive Abilities Test. CogAT measures learned reasoning and problem-solving skills in three different areas: verbal, quantitative, and nonverbal. Students who qualify for next round of Gifted & Talented testing after this test will be notified in the spring.

Reading: We just finished our Traditional Literature unit in second grade! We are beginning our Nonfiction Reading Unit on Monday!

Writing: In writing, we are working on writing non-fiction stories!

In Math, we are learning all about place value up to 999. We will talk about standard form, expanded form, word form, and base ten form.

In Science, we are learning all about changing physical properties of matter! You can chat with your kiddo at home about the characteristics that they notice about different things around your house.

When you have great pictures of your kiddo in their house colors, Ride Spirit wear, reading at home, or doing anything awesome, please email it to Mrs. Mooney to add to our weekly newsletter!

• Homework comes home on Monday and is due on Friday!
• Send in a reusable water bottle daily because our water fountains are closed.
• Please remember to send your kiddos in athletic shoes every day, if possible. They are best for recess and PE!
