After School at Patton
After-school clubs are a great way for kids to explore interests and interact with peers in a safe environment. Some of Patton’s activities include art, cooking, crocheting (pictured), Minecraft, Dungeons & Dragons, and more. See more photos on the MSD Instagram feed.
Looking for Safety/Wellness Input
The district is planning a Wellness Summit to focus on how to keep our students safe and mentally healthy. In partnership with local agencies, we’ve set March 5, 2025 as the event date and would like to know what you are interested in hearing and learning about.
Please share your input with this ThoughtExchange. Thank you!
New Firefighters
This week, the Yamhill County Volunteer Academy celebrated graduates from its fall cohort. Out of the nine McMinnville Fire District grads, six were current MHS Fire and EMS students and two were former pathway students. Congratulations!
Patton Presents “A Christmas Carol”
Get into the spirit of the season with Patton’s winter production based on the classic Charles Dickens story. The show runs Friday-Saturday, Dec. 13-14 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 2 p.m.
Tickets are $5 for general admission and $3 for students and senior citizens and are available at the door or online. Doors open 30 minutes before each performance. Come early and check out the holiday craft market!
Kindergarten Garden
A few weeks ago, Shelly Shilhanek’s class at Wascher planted a hydroponic garden in a tower farming system they received as part of the Farm to School grant awarded to the district.
From seedlings to harvest, the students have watched a variety of greens growing in their classroom, and yesterday they had a salad tasting test! See more photos on the MSD Facebook page.
Grandhaven Performs for the School Board
This week, members of Grandhaven’s choir attended the school board meeting as a representative of the school’s after-school offerings.
Music teacher Tegan Johnson was looking for 10 volunteers to participate, but 30 students wanted to join in. They packed the board room and sang some festive carols before the board, staff and parents. On Wednesday, Principal Fowler invited the participants to a after-lunch ice-cream party as a thank you for showing up. Thank you, Ravens!
Elementary Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program
We’ve had some questions about what’s included in the Fresh Fruit & Vegetable Program (FFVP), so here's a look at next week's offerings. The program is now in all elementary schools and is intended to encourage healthy eating by exposing children to fresh produce they may not have tried before.
