Happy Thanksgiving to our Birch Community!

Thank you to everyone who attended our Friendsgiving Pancake Breakfast this morning! Staff served up more than 420 plates of pancakes and toppings to our students and their families! As a community, we also collected more than 500 pounds of food for FISH- our community food bank. Thank you to our PTO for proving all the supplies and thank you all for attending! We LOVE our community.

We wish you all a beautiful Thanksgiving. We are so grateful for your kiddos and your support.

Thank you to all the families, teachers, and community members who donated to our Book Swap! It was a huge success. Thanks to you, PK-5 are going home with new-to-you books to read this Thanksgiving.

CU WOMEN'S BASKETBALL FIELD TRIP

We are super thrilled to announce that we are going to be taking a whole-school field trip to the University of Colorado Boulder to cheer on the Buffs on Tuesday, Decemer 3rd, 2024. Fill out the online permission slip ASAP as December 3rd is the Tuesday we return from break!

It's the perfect opportunity to support local businesses and make magical memories with friends and family.

School lunch reminder: Pick 3 to make it free!
School lunch is free for all students this school year. However, by federal guidelines, a school meal must include at least three components to qualify as "free". We understand that some students who bring lunch from home may still want to have school milk or something from the salad bar and families may be confused when there’s a charge for these items. BVSD Food Services shares a simple way to avoid these extra charges by selecting the three required items for a meal. Read more: School lunch reminder: Pick 3 to make it free

ACTION ITEM - Volunteering/Visitors:

Effective Jan 1, 2025 - In order to attend a field trip with your student, you must have completed the CBI fingerprint check. The cost is $56.00 and is good for 5 years.

It takes about two weeks to process, receive, and notify schools of checks, so please plan accordingly

If you plan on being in the building to volunteer or visit:

Please bring your ID
The office will print you a visitor's badge
Anyone under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult

IMPORTANT! If a visiting family member (aunt/uncle, grandparent, etc.) are going to come to school to eat lunch with your student, and you will not be attending with them:

Please send an email to mary.e.obrien@bvsd.org informing the school of the visit, and authorizing the visitor to eat lunch with your student.
Ensure the visitor will have their ID with them, as they will be admitted through the Raptor system.

OPEN ENROLLMENT

Friday, Nov. 1 through Wednesday, January 8

The Boulder Valley School District begins accepting applications for open enrollment on Friday, Nov. 1, 2024 through Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025. Due to the lottery process, families have equal possibilities of getting their school of choice, as long as it is during the window. Lottery results will be sent on or about Jan. 10.
