Parent and Family Newsletter

Dear Parents,

I hope you and your families had a restful and relaxing summer break to recharge and prepare for an incredible 2024-25 school year! We're 13 days away from the first day of school!

For our new families I would like to personally welcome you to the Trini Garza ECHS Family and share some information about myself! This is my 18th year as an educator, and my 9th year in Dallas ISD. I am grateful that all nine years in Dallas ISD have been at Trini Garza ECHS. I was the AP at Garza for six years, and am beginning my 3rd year as principal at Trini Garza. I grew up in Red Oak, Texas and attended the University of Oklahoma.

I have three boys: Micah-18, Robbie-7, and Ezra-2. IMy oldest will be attending Mountain View College and playing baseball. My husband is an English professor at University of North Texas at Dallas. When I'm not on campus you will find me chasing my 2-year-old around or at the baseball fields!

I can't wait to get to know all of you and your students and I look forward to a great school year. Our family newsletter will be updated and published every Friday. We will share via remind, school messenger, email, and our school facebook and instagram pages. The next newsletter will go out on Friday, 8/9/24. Also, check the importanat links on this newsletter for our bell schedules, bus routes, and more! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns!

Monday, 9/2- Labor Day, No High School or College Classes

10/10-10/11- Fair Days/Fall Break

Monday, 10/14- No School Dallas ISD, check with your college instructors about college classes

All returning students must enroll in Powerschool. Please follow the instructions below to register as a returning student to Garza ECHS. You can contact our registrar, Mrs. Cervantes if you have any questions or need assistance.

After school bus riders will be picked up by the B-Building by the tennis courts

If your student has been absent and needs to submit an absence note please send them to Ms. Cervantes in W34A. Excuse notes are needed ASAP so that they can be put in the system for corrections.

Parent Portal

The Dallas ISD Parent Portal system uses PowerSchool. It is a valuable resource available in English and Spanish for parents/guardians to use to become more involved in their children’s education.

Parent Portal provides parents/guardians with three key benefits:

1. Secure on-line access to their children's grades, assignments, and attendance
2. Email alerts of absences and grade average changes
3. A two-way communication tool for parents and teachers
