Spring Testing
Lakeside conducts various forms of testing throughout the school year so we can evaluate students’ learning and inform our teaching practices. District level assessments are the FAST and Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) assessments. The Minnesota Comprehensive Assessment (MCA) testing is state-mandated for grades 3-4-5. High achieving students in grades 2-5 take a test called CogAt in the spring to screen for our high potential/gifted programming.
25-26 Teacher Request information
The 2025-26 school year teacher request forms will be available in the Lakeside and Primary offices April 1-11th. If you choose to request for next year, the form will need to be fully completed and turned into either office by 4:00pm on April 11th. Forms that are turned in late or not completed accurately will not be considered. Also, know that teacher placement requests need to have an educational focus. To assist with the process, please make sure to have the following completed on the form:
Student’s name, current grade and teacher.
List FOUR teachers you are requesting. There must be four different teacher’s names listed for the form to be considered valid. The requests are four equal requests, not ranked first, second, third or fourth.
When answering the two questions on the form, please make sure they are educational requests. We will not honor requests for students to be with friends or neighbors.
Please know that completing the request form does not guarantee your student will be placed in a requested teacher’s classroom. There are many factors taken into consideration when students are placed in classes. While parent request is one component, there are many other factors that determine a well balanced classroom. We strive to create the best educational environment possible for all of our students and appreciate your support and understanding with this process.

CAMPFIRE STORYTIME ON 3/24
Join us on Monday March 24th at 6-7pm for a story time camp-out in the Primary School Gym. We will be serving dinner campfire pizza, making trail mix, having a variety of crafts to design, and story time under the (indoor) stars. To keep with the campfire theme we are asking each family to bring a blanket that they can use to eat their dinner and snuggle up in for story time. To continue spreading the love of reading across our community we will be offering the option to swap a book. Bring a book you are no longer reading and see if you can find a new book to swap it out with at the event.
Click on the link to register, we look forward to seeing everyone for a night of fun under the stars:
