FCMS EXPRESS
Week of May 5, 2025: Teacher Appreciation Week

From Mr. Liggett
FCMS Family,
As we enter the final month of the school year, I want to take a moment to express how grateful I am for the caring and supportive learning environment we share. I am continually inspired by the perseverance our students show, especially during challenging and stressful times. Parents, please help guide your child through tough times by reinforcing a strong work ethic.
These last few days may be stressful at times due to all the continued expectations at the end of the school year. Let’s continue to emphasize the importance of resilience, hope, and pushing through difficult moments. As you know, the middle school years are the most challenging times in the lives of our youth. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to our teachers or office staff with any questions or concerns, we are here to support you. Together, we can finish the year strong.

From 6th Grade
Congratulations to the following 6th graders for receiving a shout-out from a classmate:
Jayden Clark
Harper Mainous
Kristen Ruf
These students are being recognized for an act of kindness to another.
Also, congratulations to Jackson Clarkston for receiving Mrs. Ariens' "ELA Rockstar of the Week". Jackson is a student who is always willing and ready to help others, including me. He is friendly and cheerful in the classroom and hallway. I have come to enjoy his positive personality and presence in our classroom. He is very encouraging to his peers. Great job, Jackson!
Mrs. Ariens’ 6th grade ELA classes experimented with a mentor sentence activity. With a partner, they built a sentence and the identified parts of speech. Working with a partner and trying to beat others made this simple activity an engaging one. They also sketched and completed a “Parts of Speech” chart in their Grammar notebooks.
Mrs. Ariens’ ELA classes also practiced descriptive writing with “Monstrous Writing”. They first described a monster in 10 sentences. Next they met with a partner and took turns drawing their monsters by listening to step-by-step directions. This activity did not disappoint!
From Mrs. Mitchum
Mrs. Mitchum's classes took advantage of the beautiful weather this week and participated in community service around our campus. Community service is a great way for our students to give back and help take care of our shared environment.
From Mrs. Riffle
The 8th grade Intro to Ag class spent a wonderful day at Greenacres Michaela Farm in Oldenburg! The Farm to Market field trip focused on bees and chickens. The students washed and packaged eggs, visited the pasture raised chickens and made dipped beeswax candles.
Wildcat Leadership Youth Summit
Friday, our 8th graders participated in the Youth Summit. Students visited various places around Brookville to learn valuable skills. The ultimate mission of the Youth Summit is to empower students to become confident advocates for mental health and well-being by providing tools to build self-esteem, foster resilience, and navigate family dynamics! Students also enjoyed lunch at Third Street.
