Considerations for Reopening Schools Discussed
At the June 10 meeting, Superintendent Laurie Heinz outlined six working groups planning how to safely educate students within the phases of Restore Illinois. She also shared more detail on potential scenarios for reopening schools in August, pending more guidance from the State of Illinois. Three possible scenarios the District is considering include:
A: In-person instruction with health & safety modifications
B: A blend of in-person and distance learning
C: Full-time distance learning
More information about the scenarios, including a parent survey will be shared in the coming days.

Celebrating 2019-20 Retirees
Tentative Budget and Five-Year Financial Forecast
The Board heard presentations on the tentative 2020-21 budget and five-year financial forecast at its June 10 meeting.
The tentative budget provides for revenues in excess of expenditures of $4,758,126. The budget includes the issuance of $14,567,000 in Life/Safety bonds and a combined $15.84 million in Capital Projects spending. Major projects include secure entrances at Frank C. Whiteley, Central Road, Lincoln, Marion Jordan, Stuart R. Paddock, and Walter R. Sundling; carpeting at Marion Jordan; HVAC upgrades at Willow Bend; full roof replacement at Jane Addams; and boiler replacements at Carl Sandburg, Educational Service Center, Jane Addams, Plum Grove, and Thomas Jefferson. The five-year financial forecast shows the district remains in a strong overall financial position through 2024-25. Only one of the next five school years shows a deficit due to health & life safety construction projects. Review the five-year forecast online.
New Administrative Hires
At its June 10 meeting, the Board of Education approved the hire of three new administrators.

Lauren Egebrecht, Central Road Assistant Principal
Stacia Soeldner, Carl Sandburg Assistant Principal
The three new administrators will begin work in District 15 on July 1.
