Welcome back!
We’ve had a calm and joyful return to school after some time to refresh and rejuvenate. It’s been wonderful to see students settling back into their routines! This week, our teachers have spent time reviewing class and school-wide expectations, and it’s clear that most of our students were excited and ready to dive back in.
Next week, we will begin our Winter screening assessments for reading and math for our kindergarten through fifth-grade students. These assessments help teachers understand the unique needs of each student in their classroom. The information gathered will guide their instruction and allow us to identify students who may need additional support—or those who have made such progress that they no longer need extra assistance.
Finally, we continue to be amazed by the dedication and care of our Wickham staff. If you’ve noticed a staff member going above and beyond for your child, we’d love for you to recognize them with a Shine Award. You can submit your nomination using the link below.
Thank you for your continued partnership and support as we create a positive and enriching experience for all our students!
Reporting Absences
Families, please remember to report your student's absences through the Absence Request Section in Infinite Campus. You can also email your student’s teacher AND the office at macleod.emily@iowacityschools.org and schepanski.susan@iowacityschools.org, or call us at 319-688-1175. Including both the teacher and office ensures the absence is properly recorded.
Winter Gear Reminder
With winter weather upon us, we want to remind families that we have plenty of extra gloves, hats, coats, and more available for students to borrow. If your child forgets their gloves or other winter gear, there’s no need to make a special trip to Wickham. Morning item drop-offs can be very disruptive to classrooms and office operations, so we encourage students to borrow what they need from school. Let them know we’re happy to provide what they need to stay warm!
Thank you for helping us keep things running smoothly!
Lastly, thank you to everyone who donated or purchased something from our Office Holiday Wishlist last month! We are so appreciative of the support!
