Barfield September 2024 Newsletter
September 2024
Message from the Principal
Dear BEC Families,
We wanted to take a moment to express our gratitude for your patience and support as we navigate the first week of school. We know that the transition can be a bit overwhelming, especially as we adjust to new routines and procedures.
On Monday, we celebrated our "Independence Day," where all parents were asked to use our car line instead of walking students to class. We understand that this may be a change for some families, but we want to assure you that your child's safety is our top priority. Our staff is committed to ensuring a smooth and secure car line experience.
We're excited to announce that our BoBo's Pizza fundraiser is now underway! This is a fantastic opportunity for our school to raise funds. Order forms can be found in your child's backpack. This is one of our PTO's biggest fundraising events of the school year.
Thank you for trusting us with your child. It is an honor that we do not take lightly. We are committed to providing a nurturing and supportive learning environment for your child.
We look forward to a fantastic school year filled with growth, learning, and unforgettable experiences.

Recycling Lids for a Picnic Table
We are so excited to announce that we have partnered with the GREEN TREE PLASTIC
COMPANY to save our planet and help reduce our carbon footprint. We are collecting plastic lids of 8 inches or less to help us reach our goal of 550 lbs of plastic lids/pill bottles to make an ADA accessible picnic bench for our beautiful new playground area.
We would love your help in making this mission possible. I have attached a slideshow of what
lids/pill bottles are acceptable for us to collect. If you would like to participate please send in
your CLEAN lids and EMPTY, WASHED, AND STICKER FREE pill bottles to add to our already growing collection here at Barfield.
We have collected 156 lbs of lids and pill bottles since April 2023. Way to go! We are looking for plastic recycle numbers 2, 4, 5 and free of all paper! Below is a picture of the bench we are working towards purchasing.
If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to ShelbyCohen@wsdr4.org. I look forward to seeing everyone’s CLEAN lids/ pill bottles, so we can help make the world a much cleaner place!
Measurable Results Assessment (MRA) surveys
This year, our District will conduct Measurable Results Assessment (MRA) surveys for our families, students, and staff in September and April.
Our Early Childhood program will have a unique link for families. This link will be DIFFERENT than the link for your Elementary Building Site. (You do not have to complete both for your Pre-K student)
Please take some time to complete this important parent survey. The survey will close Sept. 30, 2024.
This survey will be given to our families and staff this month, and again in April. This link is unique to our early childhood program, so if you have kids in multiple schools, please check their newsletter to answer questions for that building.
Learn more about this survey and its purpose here: Learn more about MRA.
Click on Leader In Me Link below for survey.
Initial Assessments
We wanted to give you a heads up about our upcoming assessments that will begin on September 2. These assessments are designed to provide us with an initial baseline of your child's skills and abilities. We will be working with your child in a fun and playful way, ensuring that the experience is enjoyable and stress-free. The goal is to identify areas where your child may need additional support and to celebrate their strengths.
We are excited to see your child's growth and progress throughout the school year.
Opt Out Form for Body Safety
Dear Barfield Family,
Throughout the duration of the academic year, the Wentzville School District partners with community agencies that specialize in providing students, families, and educators with preventative education. Agency presenters are credentialed, coordinated through the District, and under the supervision of building administrators. Presentation topics are targeted toward specific grade levels. All students will participate in each program, unless you choose to opt your child out of the lesson(s). If you are interested in opting your student(s) out of presentation(s), please click the appropriate link(s) below.
If you have additional questions, please reach out directly to the administration.
Thank you,
Dr. Crystal Hunter-Principal/Director
Ms. Nicole Myers-Assistant Principal
