Jefferson March Update
Spring 2025
A Note From The Principal:
Dear Families,
As we move into the Spring season, we are looking forward to our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences scheduled for April 1 - 4th. These conferences provide a valuable opportunity for you to connect with your child's teacher, review their academic progress, and discuss goals for the remainder of the school year. Each conference will last approximately 20 minutes, giving you dedicated time to share insights and ask questions about your child's educational journey.
Our teachers are looking forward to these meetings and have been preparing to share samples of your child's work, assessment results, and observations about their social and academic development. To accommodate various schedules, we will offer both daytime and Thursday evening appointment slots. Your child’s teacher will be sending out information soon regarding how to secure a conference time. If you require special accommodations or need an interpreter, please let them know as soon as possible so we can ensure a productive conference experience for everyone. We look forward to seeing you soon!
Warmly,
Mrs. Ziemer

Our School Schedule is Changing!
Dear Jefferson Eagle Families,
We are excited to announce an important change to our daily schedule beginning next month 3/10/25. We will be transitioning to a "lunch before recess" approach for all grade levels. This adjustment will provide several benefits for our students, including time to prepare for lunch with their classroom teachers, better classroom focus following the lunch period, and reduced food waste as students take time to properly finish their meals. We are excited to make this transition.
Our staff is excited about this change and believes it will create a more balanced day for your children. The transition will be supported by our teachers and lunch supervisors who will help students adjust to the new routine. We appreciate your support as we implement this schedule change and welcome any questions you might have. Our primary goal remains providing the best possible learning environment for your children.
Thank you,
Mrs. Ziemer & Jefferson Elementary Staff
Health Room Update
Follow up on Vision and Hearing Referrals:
If your student failed their vision or hearing screening at school this past fall, and we have not received word that the referral was completed, you can expect to receive another referral letter during the week of parent/teacher conferences (March 31 - April 4).
If you have not yet scheduled an appointment for your child to be seen by the doctor or eye doctor, please schedule that appointment at your earliest convenience.
If you receive an additional referral form but have already completed the referral, please email me to let me know. Thank you so much!!

Counselor Connection:
Hi There!
March is Mental Health Matters Month!
There will be posters made to hang up in our hallways and we will be focusing on recognizing that mental health is just as important as physical health and academic health. Sometimes our mental health feels a little sick just like our physical health. When we have the tools that are in the attached video, the better our mental health will be. Please share with your children and talk about the different strategies.
If you have questions, please reach out.

Helping Your Child Become a Better Reader:
Reading is a crucial skill that sets the foundation for lifelong learning, and parents play a key role in fostering a love for reading at home! Encourage your child to read for 20–30 minutes each night to build their fluency, comprehension, and confidence. Make reading fun by exploring different types of books, including stories, poems, and nonfiction. Ask your child questions about what they read to help with understanding, such as "What do you think will happen next?", "Why do you think the character made that choice?", or "What was your favorite part of the story and why?" Engaging them in conversations about books strengthens critical thinking skills. Reading aloud together, even as they grow older, can also improve vocabulary and foster a deeper love for stories. Most importantly, be a reading role model—when children see you enjoying books, they’ll be inspired to do the same!
