Core Classroom Updates
English Language Arts
This week we have explored the elements of myth through the story “The Flight of Icarus”. Students analyzed what details made this story a myth as opposed to a fiction short story. The myth also allowed a deeper dive into our second Notice & Note Signpost – Words of the Wiser. Due to the schedule change on September 11th, some classes worked to solve the buried ship mystery.
Next week, our study of the myth will be extended when we explore it through poetry. Also, Tuesday will be our LMC (library) day. Please help your child remember to bring his/her library books to school.

Physical Education
All is well in PE! We had to switch our plans this past week due to the Freedom Walk and warm temperatures. Mr. Amon/Mrs. Dreiling’s classes began their volleyball unit and Mr. Turner’s frisbee golf. This next week, Mr. Turner’s classes will be doing volleyball. Mr. Amon/Mrs. Dreiling classes will be playing volleyball and beach volleyball. All students in Sports Conditioning have been doing great with their workouts. They are learning about the functions of different muscles and what lifts effect those muscles. Feel free to contact us with any questions or concerns you may have for your student!
*We will look to go outside as much as possible for PE (weather permitting). Please help us in reminding our students to bring water bottles and tennis shoes every day they have PE.
