Testing Update
In the upcoming weeks, students at Colonel Richardson High School will participate in the Maryland State Assessments. These assessments are a valuable opportunity for us to measure student progress, identify areas of strength, and address areas where additional support may be needed. The assessments will cover key academic areas, including English Language Arts, Mathematics, government, and Science, depending on your child’s grade level. The testing will take place during the regular school day, and we will ensure that the schedule is designed to minimize disruptions to learning.
Here’s how you can help your child prepare:
Ensure they get plenty of rest. A good night’s sleep can improve focus and performance.
Encourage healthy eating. A nutritious breakfast is a great way to start the day.
Promote a positive attitude. Reassure your child that they should simply do their best and that the tests are just one measure of their learning.
Remind them to bring any required materials: Ensure their school-issued laptops are fully charged and brought to school with their charger.
We appreciate your support in helping your child succeed during this important time. If you have any questions or concerns regarding the assessments or need assistance, please feel free to contact the School Testing Coordinator Mr. Brad Oberdorf.
CRHS will be administering the following assessments in the weeks to come:
MCAP ELA 10 - Monday, December 9, 2024 Through Thursday, December 12, 2024.

Technology Obligations
Starting November 1, 2024, CCPS will begin to obligate students for damaged and missing technology equipment. The CCPS Student Technology Obligation Program is designed to promote students' responsible use of technology and reduce damage costs through a tier-based pricing system. This program aligns with the Technology Obligation Regulation (Reference: III.31.71R) and the CCPS Terms of Use Agreement governing the use of technology by students.
Program Objectives:
- Cost Reduction: Minimize repair and replacement costs for student-issued technology devices.
- Responsibility Encouragement: Encourage students to take responsibility for the care and use of their assigned devices.
Tiered Pricing Reference: For details on the tiered pricing structure, please take a look at the Tiered Obligation Pricing. This document outlines the pricing levels based on the type and extent of damage.
Payment Processing: Tech obligations are treated like any other in-school obligation:
- In-School Payments: Payments may be collected at the school level and forwarded to the Central Office Finance Department for processing. When a payment is received in school, it must be documented, and the in-school tech should be notified to update the system accordingly.
- Online Payments: Parents and students can also make payments conveniently online using MySchoolBucks at CCPS Tech Payments.
