Hello DHS Families,

During these busy times, it is important that we continue to enjoy the process that we get to be involved in and take a moment to be grateful for the people who we get to enjoy the process with.
I hope that all of you had a wonderful New Years and that 2025 is happy and healthy!
Jeff Brandt,

Student Newsletter Articles
This school year, we are excited to announce that we will include student-written articles in some of our monthly newsletters! Nareen Trent is a sophomore at Dickinson High School. She enthusiastically came to Principal Brandt with the idea of writing articles for the newsletter, and he was delighted to include her. Nareen is planning on making Journalism her future career, and DHS is happy to have her!
Keep an eye out for her articles throughout the school year!
SWCTE Student Of The Month
Congratulations to Hailey Praus, our SWCTE Student of the Month!
Hailey, a senior at DHS, exemplifies responsibility, leadership, and dedication in everything she does. Her teachers describe her as a true leader who sets the bar high for her peers and younger students. Whether in the classroom or serving as an officer in the FFA, Hailey consistently gives her best and inspires those around her.
As a true CTE student, Hailey has excelled in a variety of Career and Technical Education programs, including agriculture, FACS, construction, and diesel tech. Her commitment to learning and her positive influence make her a joy to have on campus.
Thank you, Hailey, for being a shining example of what it means to be a SWCTE student. Keep up the amazing work.

DHS Staff Of The Year
We are excited to announce Dickinson High School’s Classified Staff of the Year and Teacher of the Year
This year’s Classified Staff of the Year is Mrs. Tracy Zubke! I don’t think I am out of line when I say this but I am not sure that DHS would be able to function without Mrs. Zubke. Her knowledge of PowerSchool, scheduling, registration, and a multitude of other things that I know nothing about, make her invaluable to our school. Many times when students and staff come to my office to ask me a question, I point to the office next door and have them ask Tracy! Please help me in congratulating Mrs. Zubke. We are fortunate to have her at Dickinson High School!
Dickinson High School’s Teacher of the Year is Mr. Jeremiah Hayes. As many of you who have encountered Mr. Hayes are aware, if it seems like Mr. Hayes has had 8 cups of coffee in the morning, it is likely because he has had 8 cups of coffee in the morning! Mr. Hayes energy, enthusiasm, and ability to connect with students are just some of the reasons why his fellow staff members voted him Teacher of the Year. Mr. Hayes also displays an incredible work ethic, holds himself and others around him to the highest standards of accountability, is respectful to everyone, and is always engaged in his classroom and the high school. Please energetically and enthusiastically congratulate Mr. Hayes!

End Of Semester Finals
The last day of first semester is January 10th. All students are required to take final exams as there no longer is a final test exemption policy based on grades and/or attendance. The instructors will choose the final date for each class and communicate this with their students. Teachers have the autonomy to decide what this assessment looks like and could consist of a unit test, project, presentation, activity, etc.
If a student does not take the final exam, he/she will be given a zero for that assignment. Students who have already lost credit are still required to take the final. Per Mr. Brandt, they should be attending class and graded accordingly.
Semester grades will be posted to student’s transcripts by 4pm, January 17th.
Senior Photos
Senior Photos must be turned in by March, 19th, 2025 in order for them to be printed in the 2025 yearbook. Please e-mail photos to hlockert@dpsnd.org. Each violation will be recorded in log entries.
Academic Learning Center
The Academic Learning Center (ALC) is available all day long to provide students with assistance in subject areas in which they are struggling, or if they are absent and just need assistance with the material they missed. They are also available to monitor tests they missed because of an absence. The students just need to communicate with their teacher so that they know to put the test in the ALC.
The ALC is open daily at 7:40am and during the lunch period. The gates are closed at this time but just let a staff member know that help is needed in the ALC and they will let the student through. They are also open after school until 4:00pm for assistance and make-up testing.
