Returning Student Registration
Parents or guardians of returning students will complete Returning Student Registration in Skyward. If you do not have your username or are unable to reset your password, please call the campus for assistance after July 18th. You can also submit your request via our online form.
All students will be required to submit proof of residency, or an updated address affidavit each school year. This summer, parents will receive an email from LaserFiche requesting they upload proof of residency. If you are unable to upload your documents, please contact the school for assistance.
All address affidavits require both parties (the owner of the property and the parent) to have an updated ID with the address that is listed in the Oakley Elementary zone. If you do not have all required documentation within 30 days of enrollment, your child will have to withdraw.
Our Rocket Camp for PreK and Kinder will be on Monday, August 5.
- PreKindergarten will begin at 3 p.m.
- Kindergarten will begin at 4 p.m.
Meet your teachers and give your student the chance to walk to their classroom before the first day of school.
We will also have a Meet the Teacher from 5-5:45 p.m. for students with the last names A through L. Last Names M through Z will have Meet the Teacher from 6-6:45 p.m.
This year we are also offering a chance to get assistance with our New Caney online resources. If you need help with logging in to Family Access (Skyward), Remind or Canvas you can join either of our Parent Resource Trainings in the cafeteria.
Training 1 is from 5-5:30 p.m.
Training 2 is from 6-6:30 p.m.
Car Rider Pass and Bus Tags
Car rider passes change yearly. If you would like to order a car rider tag, please submit a request through the NCISD Request for Car Rider Pass. Car rider tags ordered by August 1 will be available in your child's classroom at Meet the Teacher on August 5. We will print two passes for each order. If you need additional passes, you may pick them up in the front office once school begins.
Car rider tags that are not picked up at Meet the Teacher or ordered prior in time will be sent home in your child's back pack and you will have to come to the office to pick them up.
Bus Tag Id's do not change each year. Each student is issued one free tag when they first enroll in NCISD. Lost or Damaged tags can be purchased for $5 in the front office. Please do not throw them away or punch holes in the tag. There may be a wait for a bus tag.
Car Rider Procedures
In an effort to ensure your student’s safety and minimize traffic, our morning drop off procedures are as follows. Car riders will enter into our parking lot at the furthest entrance from school on Mitchell Lane and continue around to pull up along the front of the school.
For dismissal, please have your current car rider pass displayed for our staff to see. Extra car rider passes can be picked up from the front office.
Parents walking students into the school must park in staff parking lot and enter through the front entrance. Parents should not drive through the bus lanes during bus drop off or pick up times.

Attendance Goals
We need your help this year! One of the most important factors in your child's academic success is being at school every day, all day.
Our goal this year is for students to have no more than 5 total absences for the school year along not leaving early.
Last year, many students missed 15 or more days and many students that went home early 20 plus times.
How Can You Help?
Plan ahead! Check out our academic calendar (linked below) and plan vacations, doctor's appointments, etc., during our many breaks throughout the year.
If your child is truly sick (not fever-free for 24 hours, vomiting, and/or diarrhea), keep them home! If you’re unsure whether your child should be at school, please call us. We’re here to help you problem-solve.
To ensure your children learn and grow, we need them at school!
Maximizing learning time and attendance is one of our top priorities this year, and we can't achieve it without your support. Let's work together to make this the best year yet at Oakley Elementary!
Thank you for being a vital part of our community! ~Ms. Knollenberg
Open House
Add our Open House on August 22 to your calendar! We will be sending out more information closer to the event.

Pairing with a Student in Canvas
Are you paired in Canvas with your student?
Finding Report Cards in Skyward
Reminder, you can use Family Access in Skyward to keep track of your student's grades. Canvas Grades only gives you information about individual assignments. If you want to check on your student's overall grade, you will find that information in Skyward. You can put in a Help Desk Ticket request if you need help remembering your log-in information.
OES House System
The Why of Houses
Develop a system where EVERY student has a place to belong, be supported, and be successful. 7 Houses, 1 Community!
We have House Party on Fridays. We encourage students to wear their house color. If you need to know your child's house color, contact myoung3@newcaneyisd.org and put House Color in subject line.
We are all a part of the Rocket House. The Rocket House will be divided into 7 smaller houses, with students and staff members randomly assigned to each house. Each house will be represented by one of the 7 Mindsets listed below:
House Points
- Following BLAST behavior expectations - Be responsible, Lead by example, Act responsibly, Safety first, Teamwork matters
- Acts of Kindness
- Collaboration
- Mindset Champion
- Attendance
- Quality Work
Every week we will reveal a House winner at our Friday House Party. Random rewards will be given throughout the year for the winning Houses. (Extra recess, popsicles, dance party, etc.)
We can use your help by talking with your child about expectations at home!!!
