Message from Superintendent Dr. Latrice N. Mumin
Greetings and Happy New Year, CUSD Families!
I hope this message finds you well as we kick off 2025. To those who observed Three Kings Day earlier this week, I hope it was a joyous and meaningful celebration with family and friends.
As you know, we are in the thick of winter, and as we’ve already experienced this week, inclement weather can bring possible school closures or delays. Please stay connected to our platforms by keeping an eye on our social media pages, district website, and Clipper TV for updates. Additionally, it’s important that we have your most up-to-date contact information and email address so you never miss important announcements regarding weather-related updates.
Looking ahead, it’s a quick turnaround as the second marking period is set to end on Friday, January 24. With just a few weeks left, we need our scholars focused and on track to finish this period strong. Let’s encourage them to put their best foot forward in their studies and make the most of these remaining weeks.
Thank you for your continued partnership and welcome back!

In Case You Missed It (#ICYMI)
Winter Concert
I am happy to share the recording from CUSD's Annual Winter Concert: Spreading Love Through the Arts. The show warmed our hearts and filled the season with joy just in time for the holidays.
We saw performances from our talented students who serenaded the audience with classic holiday songs and music. The concert also featured dance performances from the Clippettes.
A huge thank you to Dr. Rod Bradley and our dedicated CUSD music department teachers for guiding our students and helping them deliver heartfelt performances!
CUSD’s Annual District-Wide Science Fair
Our annual District-Wide Science Fair took place on December 18 at CHS, and our scholars wowed us with their creativity, innovation, and hard work!
I would like to extend a huge thank you to all the student participants for their outstanding efforts, as well as the community volunteers, families, and supporters who came out to cheer them on. I would also like to thank Dr. Carlena Parker (Chief Academic Officer), Mr. Eros Uthman-Olukokun (Supervisor of Academics, K-8), and all the staff members who worked tirelessly to make this event a success.
Holiday Toy Donations
Before the break, our Chief of Staff, Ms. Averette, visited ESA Elementary with a special delivery of toys that were distributed to CUSD families.
This generous donation was made possible through the support of Philadelphia Eagles linebacker Nakobe Dean, the Eagles Charitable Foundation, and Between Friends Boutique.
