Back Bay Mission Hygiene Kits
St. Paul is collecting Hygiene Kits to help keep our unsheltered friends as clean and safe as possible while they are out living in the South Mississippi heat and humidity. The elements are volatile and many only have the clothes on their back. One of the ways we live our faith out loud is through the creation of these Hygiene Kits which are distributed by Back Bay Mission.
We are submitting the hygiene kits that St. Paul collects during the South Central Conference's Annual Meeting. Please bring kits or supplies by no later than Sunday, May 12th after Sunday Worship Service.
Kits should be in large Ziploc bags and should contain the following:
- 1 Hand Towel (16āX28ā inches) 1 Wash Cloth
- 1 Wide Tooth Comb
- 1 Toothbrush
- 1 Tube of Toothpaste
- 1 Bar of Soap (bath size in a wrapper) 1 Plastic Soap Container
- 1 Deodorant (Solid or Roll-On)
- 1 Disposable Plastic Razor
If you are unable to make kits, but would like to contribute individual supplies, we welcome those donations as well.
Financials & Online Giving
We want to say thank you to everyone for continuing to support daily operations and Ministries at St. Paul through your tithes and offerings. We have currently received 21% of our monthly offerings needed this month. We know that with your continued support and the grace of God, we can hit 100% this month!
We welcome your support for the work we're doing at St. Paul United Church of Christ of Corpus Christi. We know the Open and Affirming, justice-oriented Gospel we're putting into practice here is changing and saving lives and we invite you to help. Weekly Devotional & Prayer
Finding Strength in Surrender
As we gather in worship on Sunday morning, let us center our hearts and minds on the theme of surrendering to God's will. In our journey of faith, we often find ourselves striving, planning, and pushing forward with our own agendas. But true spiritual growth begins when we relinquish control and yield to the divine guidance of our Creator.
Scripture reminds us of the transformative power of surrender. In Psalm 46:10, we are encouraged to "be still, and know that I am God." This call to stillness invites us to release our worries, fears, and ambitions, and instead, trust in the sovereignty of God.
Surrendering to God requires humility and trust. It means acknowledging that we are finite beings in need of divine guidance. Just as Jesus surrendered to the Father's will in the Garden of Gethsemane, saying, "Not my will, but yours be done" (Luke 22:42), we too are called to submit our lives to God's perfect plan.
But surrendering does not imply passivity or resignation. Instead, it empowers us to align our desires with God's purposes and participate actively in His redemptive work. As we surrender our plans, dreams, and aspirations to God, we open ourselves to His transformative grace and invite Him to work through us for the glory of His kingdom.
In our devotional time today, let us reflect on areas of our lives where we struggle to surrender control. Are there relationships, ambitions, or fears that we need to release into God's hands? Let us pray for the courage to let go and trust in His unfailing love and wisdom.
May our hearts be softened, our spirits renewed, and our faith deepened as we embrace the beautiful journey of surrendering to God. And may we find strength, peace, and joy in surrendering our will to His divine purposes.
