Starting 2024 Strong

Dear Families,

Welcome to February! Last month was full of excitement, achievement, and weather. Here at Northwood we are celebrating 5 days of school this week. This month, we are excited to celebrate and highlight Black History Month.

The 3rd quarter is moving along quickly. We encourage you to speak with your students consistently about their grades and assignments. If you need help accessing PowerSchool please reach out to us. Below are 2 important notes.

Below is a PBIS survey for families to complete. We would appreciate your feedback as we continue to improve our school culture and student experience.
Conferences are coming up on February 15th, we would like to invite each of you to speak with your child's teachers.

PBIS Parent Survey

The teachers and building staff have been working hard this year to implement positive behavior interventions and support for all students. It is important that we receive feedback from families on strengths and needs to continue to make improvements.

Below is a survey that is used nationally to get feedback on our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) program. For each section there will be a question asking if you think the item is “In Place, Partially in Place, or Not in Place” in our school. The next section will repeat, but will ask how important this is to you. Do you think it is a “High Priority, Medium Priority, or a Low Priority.”

We appreciate your time and support and look forward to using your feedback to continue to improve for our students.

W.O.W. (While Out Walking) Moments at NWMS

Math Talk with Mrs. VK

Everyday 8th grade students are able to visit Mrs. VK at the stairs for Math Talk. This is a great opportunity for students to GET and GIVE extra help!

NWMS Cheerleaders

Our 7th and 8th grade cheerleaders are working really hard this season. Mr. Cap has agreed to perform with them during the last home game if they continue to work hard in and out of the classroom.

NWMS Students of the Month

These students were nominated by their teachers for being responsible throughout the school.

Black History Month at NWMS

To celebrate and honor Black History Month, Mrs. Hoover's social studies classes created a timeline of influential black Americans. Each student picked a black American to research and created a bio sheet, that was then placed on the timeline in chronological order. The timeline is displayed in the 7th grade hallway to showcase these individuals. The students are also reading about their influential Americans on the morning announcements, highlighting a different person each day during the month of February.
