ATTENDANCE REMINDERS
WELCOME BACK WARRIORS!
Welcome to the 2024-2025 school year here on the Warrior Campus! We hope you had a chance to rest and enjoy summer break! As we start this new year, we are excited to reintroduce our Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS: Warrior Way) program.
Here at LDF our goal is to create a safe and supportive learning environment where every student can succeed. The Warrior Way is designed to promote positive behavior, prevent discipline issues, and build a strong, respectful school community.
This year our focus will be on:
Reinforcing positive behaviors throughout the school. We will continue to recognize and celebrate the positive behaviors that contribute to a positive and respectful school environment.
Clear Expectations: We will review and reinforce our school expectations of Respecting Self, Respecting Others and Respecting our Environment in all areas of our school, including classrooms, hallways and playgrounds, and bathrooms. These expectations are designed to help students understand what is expected of them and to help students have successful days at school.
Support all students: We will continue to provide targeted support for students who need additional support in meeting our 3 core values of respecting self, others and the environment, helping students have access to the resources they need to succeed.
We are excited about the opportunities this new year holds and are confident that with your support, we will continue to build positive and productive learning environments. Thank you for your continued support! Watch future newsletters for more WARRIOR WAY updates! Here’s to a successful and enjoyable school year!
Helping Your Child Receive the Full Benefit of Their Education-Facts from the Attendance Office
An absence is any time your child misses any portion of the school day after the start of school (8:10 AM) and before the scheduled end of school (3:25 PM).
Absences are further broken down as excused and unexcused.
All excused absences require communication with school. Any absence lacking communication remains unexcused until such time as information is provided to the school. For an absence to be excused, we need communication from you (email, phone call, written note). It is never too late to communicate for a past absence. Remember, good attendance is more than simply complying with laws; rather, it is truly a matter of providing our children with more and better opportunities to learn!

Cultural Connections Updates
7 Grandfather Teachings
The traditional concepts of respect and sharing that form the foundation of the Native American way of life are built around the seven natural laws, or sacred teachings. Each teaching honors one of the basic virtues intrinsic to a full and healthy life.
Each law is embodied by an animal to underscore the point that all actions and decisions made by man are manifest on a physical plain. The animal world taught man how to live close to the earth, and the connection that has been established between the animal world and that of man has instilled a respect for all life in those who follow the traditional way.
- The Eagle teaches us LOVE. Love must be unconditional.
- The Buffalo teaches us RESPECT. Respect is the condition of being honored.
- The Bear teaches us COURAGE. Courage is the ability to face danger, fear, or changes with confidence and bravery.
- The Butterfly teaches us HONESTY.
- The Beaver teaches us WISDOM. Wisdom is the ability to make decisions based on personal knowledge and experience.
- The Wolf teaches us HUMILITY. Humility is being humble and not arrogant.
- The Turtle teaches us TRUTH. Truth is to know and understand all the seven teachings have given to us by the Creator and to remain faithful to them.
SEPTEMBER Welcome Back Powwow
The Buffalo teaches us Respect
Respect is the condition of being honored. The Buffalo, through giving its life and sharing every part of its being, showed the deep respect it had for the people. No animal was more important to the existence of Indigenous families than this animal, and its gift provided shelter, clothing and utensils for daily living. Native people believed themselves to be true caretakers of the great herds, and developed a sustainable relationship with the Buffalo resulting in a relationship that was a true expression of respect.
