CGELC Newsletter
October / November 2016
Dear Parents & Guardians
We've been very busy learning about loads of interesting topics the past few months!
Castle Grove ELC is currently developing a RAP (Reconciliation Action Plan). We will need some parent volunteers to form a networking group to succeed in this task. We will also require an Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander representative to guide us through this task. If any of you have contact with an Aboriginal / Torres Strait Islander who would be able to assist us in this, could you please inform either Miss Roshini or Miss Arthy.
There are a few important dates to remember over the next few months which have been detailed at the end of this newsletter so please take note and diarise these dates so you don't miss out!
We're looking forward to the next few months as we discuss even more exciting topics and begin our preparations for the year end concert!

Dinosaurs
We also learned a little bit about archaeology and fossils which is what allows us to learn about Dinosaurs today.
BOOK WEEK
It was great to take a couple of weeks to read some great books, and learn about literature, illustration and writing styles and techniques such as rhyming.
Fathers Day
We enjoyed having the opportunity to show them just how much when we invited them to come and join us a special Father's Day tea where we performed a special song for them and shared with them the gifts we'd made for them.
Use the link below to see the Album of photos from our Father's Day tea.
Spring
We discussed plants, animals and weather conditions which occur during spring.
We also spent alot of time outdoors and planting seeds in our veggie patch to increase our contribution to the environment and plant life.
We were really pleased with the Spring weather which allowed us to spend plenty of time out in the garden and doing our share to care for and contribute to the environment.
Insects & Bugs
Some facts we learned about insects.
That their bodies are made up of three main parts: head, thorax and abdomen.
Insects have six legs.
During the first week of this topic we explored different insects including spiders, ladybugs, and dragonflies.
Over the second week we focused mainly on a really special insect: the butterfly. We went into great detail about the life cycle of a butterfly and it's different phases. Each day was dedicated to learning about one specific phase of the life of a butterfly, and on the last day we made our very own charts using our crafts from throughout the week about the complete life cycle of a butterfly. During this week we also learned many interesting facts about butterflies.
Puppet Show
The puppet show was filled with of loads of fun and entertaining characters and we were able to participate by singing along with some of our favourite songs.
Happy Birthday!
We hope you have a wonderful time & enjoy the spoils and celebrations.
