January Newsletter
Happy New Year! As we welcome 2025! January marks a fresh start, and we are excited about the learning opportunities and events planned for this month. We are also thrilled to welcome you to the second semester of the school year. Together, we look forward to continuing the journey of learning, growth, and success.
Wheeler is happy to welcome Mrs. Grimes to Wheeler as our new 5th grade teacher. Mrs. Grimes will be taking over Ms. Barnes's class as Ms. Barnes has taken a teaching position out of state. We wish all the best for Ms. Barnes and hope all the happiness to her. Mrs. Grimes joins our Wildcat family with extensive experience and has been working closely with our 5th grade team over our winter break.
We extend our gratitude for your continued involvement in your child’s education. Together, we make our school a place where every student can thrive. If you have any questions or suggestions, please don’t hesitate to reach out.
Wishing you a wonderful January filled with learning and growth.
Warm regards,
Kari Baltes

Why Attendance Matters
Regular attendance is crucial for every student's academic success and overall development. Here are a few reasons why attending school consistently is so important:
Academic Achievement: Students who attend school regularly are more likely to perform well academically. Every lesson builds on the previous one, so missing classes can make it harder to keep up with coursework, understand key concepts, and perform well on exams.
Social Development: School is not just about academics; it is also a place where students learn important social skills, such as teamwork, communication, and conflict resolution. Regular attendance helps students build friendships, develop social skills, and feel a sense of belonging within the school community.
Building Good Habits: Consistent attendance helps students develop responsibility and discipline. Learning to be on time and present is a valuable life skill that will benefit them in higher education and future careers.
Access to Resources: Schools provide a variety of resources that support learning, including access to teachers, extracurricular activities, libraries, and support services. Regular attendance ensures students can make the most of these opportunities.
Improved Well-being: Attending school regularly contributes to a student’s emotional and mental well-being. Being engaged in a routine, participating in school activities, and maintaining social connections can help students feel more secure, motivated, and positive about their education.
