We are excited for our virtual author visit with Grace Lin next Wednesday. We hope that you are enjoying reading Once Upon a Book. Please tap on the picture to hear the book read aloud by Ms. Stern and Ms. Denman.

Our Hawthorne students were busy today preparing our courtyard gardens for planting. They worked together to remove weeds and till the soil. They even dug up some composting heroes! They finished the day by planting flower seeds. We are excited to watch our garden grow!

This week we welcomed our incoming kindergarten families for orientation. Our newest Wildcubs met friends, listened to a story and completed a craft. Parents met with our administrative team to learn about what it is like to spend a day in kindergarten.

We were thrilled to welcome our second grade families on April 30th for our Celebration of Learning and Second Grade Art Show. Parents were able to see the progress that students have made this year. Students showcased their portfolios, shared their original Reader's Theatre scripts, and played some games. Student artists shared their work, and our visitors were invited to share compliments.

Our Hawthorne Girl Scouts were out in the community selling their cookies at the Westchester Mall. This was the second year in a row that the troop got together to advertise and sell their cookies. They worked hard, creating advertisement posters and tallying the totals for shoppers who stopped to buy some sweet treats.

Our kindergarten vocal performance is next Friday, May 10th in our gymnasium. Please see the show times below. Please have each adult who attends wear their HES wristband. Parking will be available in the Holy Rosary parking lot. Please proceed through the gate and down the stairs to the Memorial Drive entrance.

Brighton Safety

Parents please do not pass cars in the Brighton line. Please have your child exit your vehicle on the passenger side, so that they have direct access to the sidewalk without walking between the cars.

HES is Nut-Free

Hawthorne is a nut-free school. Please do not send your child to school with products containing peanuts, tree nuts, Sun Butter, Nutella or any other products containing nuts.
