- 7th Grade Program Planning - Thanks to Mrs. Louderback for her presentation this week about the program planning process. We hope our 7th grade parents and guardians can join us at our next Parent Council meeting as we will review this with them and answer any questions!
- FLEXIBLE INSTRUCTION DAYS (FID) - Thanks for a successful FID day. It looks like we have some snow in the forecast so please make sure to check district communications for any upcoming closures. Flexible Instructional Day (FID) / Home - Now that we have had our 1st snow day of the year all futures snow days will be in this format. Please take a moment to review as a family!

COLONIAL CORES & EXPECTATIONS – It was a great first week with students as we reviewed basic overview of expectations, policies, and procedures and following up this week as noted above. We have created the Colonial Core page on our website for our community to access the overview of the Colonial Cores and what we teach and the expectations we have for students and all of us in a variety of settings. We will continue to model and revisit these throughout the year!

9th GRADE UPDATES
Student Services Department / 9th to 10th Grade Program Planning
Homebase for all things program planning!
We are continuing to encourage students to make sure they have registered for our 9th grade field trip to NYC on May 19th. We are also looking for parent volunteers to chaperone the trip. Parents can volunteer to chaperone when they register their child for the trip through My Payments Plus.
In the spirit of our current weather pattern, 9th Grade Collaborative Cooking Students made Snowmen Brownies - complete with carrot noses. It was both fun and delicious! We ended the week making mini pizza bagels which all students also seemed to enjoy.

8th GRADE UPDATES
The 8th grade science classes started their first chemistry core assessment this week. They wrote testable questions and hypotheses. Then, they showed off their lab skills that included measuring volume, timing chemical reactions, and explaining which variables were used in the experiment. Finally, they wrote a claim with evidence to support and explained the reasoning behind speeding up and slowing down chemical reactions.

7th GRADE UPDATES
On Friday, 1/31, Team 7-2 participated in the next round of The Games. This time we opted for a quiet and calm scenario and played "Whisper Down the LINE." Students were in the Cafeteria and sat at the rectangular lunch tables. Each I&E teacher gave the first student in line a phrase and the goal was for students to correctly whisper the phrase around the table so that the last person could repeat it correctly back to the teacher. We started with 3-word phrases and worked all the way up to 6-word phrases! In the end, we were surprised at how quiet our crews could be, but only one group was victorious…Team Garland! Team Hilbert is still in the lead overall, but we're closing in on them!
Team 7-0 closed out January with a heated Valentines' Pairs competition in the latest quest for the Victory Cup. In Valentines' Pairs, the students hear clues whose answers are always a duo: "The quarterbacks who will lead their teams in Super Bowl LIX…" Every I & E team earned points, naming Jalen Hurts and Patrick Mahomes, but the competition intensified as the clues continued. At the end of the game, Team Madden vanquished the others, earning 1st place. Team Rickert earned 2nd place and Team Hampstead took 3rd place. Team Madden sits alone atop the overall standings, but the spring will bring more competitions and thus more opportunities to challenge their top spot status.
Jan. 30 Town Hall Meeting Video and New Q&As
CBSD's Leadership Team and Board thank the many members of the CB community who attended the first town hall to discuss the future of Doyle, Kutz, and Linden on Jan. 30. A presentation was offered that shared information on the options to address the capital needs at these three schools and related costs and considerations. Questions that were submitted prior to the event were answered and questions during the event were received. View video recording and view FAQs. The next town hall is Thursday, Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at CB East.
Check CBSD "e-Flyer Folder" Regularly for Info on Community Events
Did you know there's a webpage on CBSD.org where you can get information on various community events and activities happening around Central Bucks? Flyers that used to go in backpacks or were sent home with students are being collected on the district's "e-Flyer Folder" webpage. Check it out now! Recent additions include information from Bucks County Grandfamilies Support Group and a pre-school enrollment flyer from Anchor Church, which is located near Buckingham and Bridge Valley.
