Good evening, Shark Family! This is Ryan Poston, principal of St. James High School, with an important announcement. Due to today’s storm, Horry County Schools will be holding an e-Learning Day tomorrow, Monday, December 18. Additionally, St. James High School will be cancelling all afterschool activities on Monday, December 18th.
I would like to take a moment to share some important information with you regarding our e-Learning schedule and expectations. St. James High School will operate on the schedule shown in the attached graphic. Students should log into Google Classroom and/or Schoology based on the schedule, attend Google Meet sessions, and complete each teachers’ assignments. All student assignments will be posted in either their Google Classroom or Schoology Account.
All students must complete either their digital work via Google Classroom and/or Schoology or paper copies of their assignments. Teachers will be available for students during scheduled office hours via email and in their digital classrooms. Any technical issues should be reported to your child’s teachers.
Completion of their class assignments or attendance for the live Google Meets will be used to document attendance for the day. Students who are unable to complete digital assignments due to power outages, lack of internet, PDL issues, or other extenuating circumstances will be given 5 days to complete assignments upon their return to school in order to be receive credit and be marked present.

e-Learning Student Expectations and Procedures
St. James High School e-Learning Student Commitments
During e-learning, we expect that students will:
- Attend scheduled Google Meet class sessions
Engage in your learning as much as possible
Reach out to your teacher if you need help or technical assistance.
Log in to each your Google Classroom and/or Schoology course and complete assigned activities by their due dates with academic integrity.
If completing paper copies of assignments, students will submit the assignments within 5 days of returning to school.
St. James High School Google Meet Guidelines:
Do your best to make sure that you have chosen an area free of distractions.
Use headphones or earbuds if you have them available. This will help to cut down on distractions.
Make sure that you are following the school dress code and that your background is school appropriate.
Always use school appropriate language.
Make sure that your microphone is muted when you join each session.
Bring paper, pencils, and any other materials that you may need during the meeting.
If you have a question, use the chat feature to type your question in. When the teacher calls on you, you may unmute yourself during your turn. Be sure to mute yourself again afterwards.
Remember that all HCS and SJHS rules related to the appropriate use of technology apply during e-learning. All meetings will be recorded.
