Mill Creek Principal Update

Dear Mill Creek families,

Thank you to all of you who made it out to Curriculum Night last Thursday evening. It was wonderful to see so many families in attendance! This support for our teachers and school is so appreciated.

As promised, we want to keep you updated on our student attendance percentage. As of September 30, Mill Creek's attendance rate is 92.3%. This is similar to our data at this time last school year. As we told you in our August newsletter, our goal is to raise student attendance to 94.3% by the end of the school year. Thank you for your help in getting your child to school each day and on time. Tardies add up and count against our attendance.

October will be an exciting and busy month with Fun Fest and our annual Fall Celebration with Books. Our PTA and teachers have worked incredibly hard to plan an extra enjoyable Fun Fest on Friday, October 11 from 5-8 pm. We hope you all can attend. We will have games, a raffle, and food trucks. Families will be able to pick up their winnings from the Silent Auction, as well. See more information below.

As the weather begins to cool, be sure to send your child to school with a jacket or sweatshirt. Recess is such an important part of a child's day, and we want our students to be comfortable outside.

The Silent Auction for the Cougar Fun Fest goes live this Sunday, October 6! Bidding will end on Thursday, October 10, at 10:30 PM. We have a fantastic variety of items available, including some exciting new offerings. Mark your calendars for Friday, October 11th, when the Cougar Fun Fest will take place from 5 PM to 8 PM. We can't wait to see you there!

The Fun Fest committee is still looking for people who can help tow lights from A1 rentals on Old 63 to the school on Friday, October 11 around 1:00 and back Saturday morning, October 12. Two lights need to be transported so 2 people making 1 trip would be ideal. A 2inch ball is needed for towing. Please reach out to Beth Dixon at edixon@cpsk12.org if you can help with this task!

Our school Flu Vaccine Clinic will take place the morning of Wednesday, October 30th in the Mill Creek Media Center. Students MUST have a consent form signed by a guardian to participate in this optional clinic. Please contact Nurse Molly at mmatter@cpsk12.org. with any questions or if you would like to volunteer.

On Thursday, October 31, we will have our Fall Celebration with Books. If you have not participated in this fun event before, this is an opportunity for students to dress up like their favorite book character. No masks, weapons, face paint, or props are permitted. Students will spend the day participating in a variety of reading activities in their classroom. Teachers will send specific details closer to the date.
