PRINCIPAL'S POST
Dear Parents & Caregivers,
Another busy fortnight has passed and with only just over three weeks to go, there is plenty of information and events to come.
ANNUAL COMMUNITY MEETING - WED 23rd NOVEMBER
A reminder to parents that our ACM will take place on Wed 23rd November, 3:30pm in the hall. This annual meeting is an opportunity for the School Advisory Council and P&F to report back to our community on the progress and initiatives that have taken place across the 2022 school year. We will also announce some positive news regarding 2023 school fees and classroom teachers. The meeting will be streamed via the below link for those unable to attend:
In 2023, the P&F will be under the direction of the new Catholic School P&F Terms of Reference which will see the 'Executive' dissolve and a new 'Committee' appointed.

AGNES FEAST DAY LITURGY & CELEBRATION
Yesterday, our children in Agnes Dwert celebrated the feast of St Agnes of Assisi. Agnes was the younger sister of St Clare and named Agnes by Francis of Assisi, because she was gentle like a young lamb. St Agnes matched her sister in devotion to prayer and in willingness to endure the strict penances that characterized the Poor Ladies’ lives at San Damiano. After establishing other monasteries of Poor Ladies in northern Italy, Agnes was recalled to San Damiano in 1253, as Clare lay dying. Three months later Agnes followed Clare in death, and was canonized in 1753.
In celebrating St Agnes, the children started the day with a liturgy then Agnes enjoyed some wonderful team building games as a faction. Finally, lunch and a icy pole is always a great way to end the feast day celebrations. Thank you to Ms Campbell, Miss Kruenert and Mrs Dux for their work with the children.
SEQTA ENGAGE REPORTING - S2 ACADEMIC REPORTS 9th DECEMBER

CLASS LISTS & TEACHER REQUESTS 2022
In preparation for the coming school year, discussions and meetings take place with teachers, students, support staff and leadership. Many hours are spent taking a very measured and balanced approach when preparing these lists and placing children in classes. Classes are always evenly distributed according to academic, social and emotional needs.
Processes are in place across the school so that we can place every child with at least one friend preference. We do take into consideration every child's personality, learning and social needs, and balance the class accordingly. As a result, we cannot accommodate parent requests. I appreciate parents know their child and want the best possible outcome for them, but please trust that we are striving for the same outcome for the needs of every individual child in the school. I ask that parents please do not contact teachers to make class or teacher requests. Any such requests will be directed to me.
AND THE WINNER IS.......
The P&F monitored money raised by each class for the Colour-A-Thon two weeks ago and I am pleased to announce that the class with the most money raised was Kindy W!!!! Believe it or not - they raised the most money in 2021 as well! For their efforts, the P&F will supply a special lunch for the KW class later this term. Many thanks from our children, staff and parents for the work the P&F does to create such a great community event. Congratulations also to Beauden Morgan (KW) and Rylan (2B) and Jedd Hitchcock (PPW) for raising the most individual money! All three were presented with a gift voucher to Bounce at last Friday's assembly.
SFOA CHRISTMAS CONCERT - WED 30th DEC
The annual SFOA Christmas Concert is not far away and this year the event will be streamed from the school hall thanks to our new HD Camera funded in 2021 by the P&F. The SFOA Christmas Concert is one of the year's biggest events and our children are busy preparing their songs to perform. The Pitch Inn Food truck will again be available from 5pm - 6:30pm to provide hot foods, coffee and drinks for the evening. Parents are welcome to arrive early and bring a picnic blanket and enjoy a feed and non-alcoholic beverage before the concert begins. Please note - NO ORDERS WILL BE TAKEN AFTER 6:30pm.

CAMP AUSTRALIA - TEMPORARY JANUARY CLOSURE DATES
For thos parents who make use of our holiday vacation care service with Camp Australia, unfortunately, due to staffing shortages we have had to make the decision to close the service for a short period in January. Please see the below date:
January 19 - 24, 2023 - Temporary Closure
We apologise to those families who will be affected but have provided as much notice as possible to ensure that other alternative arrangements can be made for children who would normally access the service.
It was exactly a year ago that the Aussie cricket team were crowned World T20 Champions. Fair to say a bit of water has gone under the bridge since then and England have stamped their authority as white ball specialists. We now look to Sunday for the Kangaroos v Samoa in the Rugby World Cup. I'm sure these two events are merely preludes to the biggest sporting event in the world starting next week, the World Cup in Qatar. Looking forward to the early morning starts and the Socceroos giving it their best!
Best wishes for the fortnight ahead.

AGNES FEAST DAY
Thank you to our amazing Yr 6 Agnes/Dwert leaders who made yesterday such a fun day. Your care and support of our junior children was amazing. Thanks also to Miss Kreunert and Mrs Dux for joining in the fun and games! Special mention to Mr Clarke (bbq) & helpers, and Mr C (music).
CHRISTMAS HAMPERS
Our annual Christmas Hamper appeal began on Tuesday 15th November and will run through to Friday 3rd December. A note came home on Tuesday including a list of donatable items. Some of the hampers will be displayed at the Thanksgiving Graduation Mass. Please give generously. All the hampers will be distributed to local families in need at Christmas.
FEAST OF JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE (Christ the King)
This Sunday, 20th November, marks the last Sunday of Ordinary Time. It is the feast of Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. Luke's Gospel (23:35-43) proclaims the great mystery of our faith: In the moment of his crucifixion, Jesus is shown to be King and Saviour of all. Jesus is King, but not the kind of king we might have imagined or expected.
His kingship was hidden from many people of his time, but those who had the eyes of faith were able to see. As modern disciples of Jesus, we, too, struggle at times to recognise Jesus as King. Luke's Gospel invites us to make our own judgment. With eyes of faith, we, too, recognise that Jesus, the crucified One, is indeed King and Saviour of all.
ADVENT (Year A)
The season of Advent is fast approaching, beginning Sunday 27th November. Advent is the start of the Church year. The word Advent comes from the Latin 'adventus,' which means 'coming' or 'arrival' to signify the birth of Jesus. Advent is a time for celebration; anticipating Christ's birth and looking forward to when Jesus will come again. As Catholics, we believe Jesus is the son of God so we celebrate the lead up to his birth.
PRAYERS
Please keep our Year 6 students in your prayers as they prepare to finish their time here at St Francis of Assisi CPS.
