We are delighted to announce that all enrolled students at TUSD schools can enjoy the benefits of free breakfast and free lunch this school year with no application required.
At any of our 87 school campuses, students have the opportunity to receive one nutritious breakfast meal and one satisfying lunch meal at no cost each school day. Thanks to the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) of the National School Lunch Program, all students at qualifying TUSD schools can enjoy these meals at no charge.
Our commitment at TUSD is to equip every student in our school community with the essential tools for success, including access to wholesome meals during the school day. By participating in school breakfast and lunch, students receive the vital energy and nutrition necessary to enhance their learning experience, ultimately supporting optimal academic performance.
By offering free meals, TUSD not only supports student health and academic achievement but also helps families by saving them valuable time and money, knowing that their students have access to nutritious meals at school.

The Longest Month of the Year
August looms ahead with the promise of the beginning of the school year and a 31 day stretch with no holidays whatsoever. It’s still summer in Tucson with plenty of heat and humidity to add to the weight of busy mornings, homework and bedtime. These factors combined with the usual life stressors can make everyone in our families grumpy and irritable. What’s a person to do? You can’t change the calendar, the weather or anyone’s attitude. You can’t even go for a nice walk during the day to clear your head because it is way too hot.
If you’ve been reading these articles, you have probably noticed a theme: be kind and patient with yourself, set small reasonable goals, and keep your expectations grounded in reality. You are just getting back into the full swing of a school year and all that it brings. You cannot possibly take on the weight of the semester at once so you will need to take on one piece at a time.
Can you put a calendar together with the required semester activities listed and who needs to participate in that activity? Can you decide what time everyone needs to get up in the morning and find ways to make sure that they actually get up? Can you set up a bedtime that is reasonable for the age of your child? Can you shut down electronics at a certain time so that bedtime is possible?
Choose one of these items or one of your own and just dig into that. Once you feel a sense of accomplishment, take on something else. You have time to get it all together and if you try too hard to master everything right away, you will likely become over stressed and ineffective.
You CAN do this and you have to give yourself time to regroup.
Community Partner Spotlight | Educational Enrichment Foundation
This month, we are proud to honor the Educational Enrichment Foundation, which plays a crucial role in expanding and enhancing student learning within the Tucson Unified School District. The Educational Education Foundation has been a valued partner of our Family Resource Centers, working tirelessly to connect us with resources that benefit our families. Thanks to their collaboration and partnership with Amazon, we have been able to provide essential hygiene products to all of our families, making a significant impact across our family resource centers. We are immensely grateful for their support and dedication in helping us establish and maintain our hygiene pantries. The Educational Enrichment Foundation's unwavering commitment and efforts are truly commendable. We encourage everyone to visit their website at https://www.eeftucson.org/ to learn more about their mission, upcoming events, and opportunities to get involved.
