Pevely Elementary Weekly Update
Hello Pevely Families!
Our first full week of school has been fantastic! All of our classrooms are still spending a lot of time reviewing expectations, getting to know one another, making connections, and starting assessments.
We have an exciting week coming up, with our Back to School Bash hosted by Lil' Cat Club PTO on Friday, September 6th! If you can sign up for a volunteer spot that evening, it will help us be able to keep all of the stations as planned. Thank you to everyone who has already signed up to volunteer!
Have a wonderful holiday weekend. We will see you back on Tuesday!

Sincerely,
Ms. Katie Dunlap

AM and PM Drop-Off and Pick-Up
Our AM and PM pick-up/drop-off has gotten much quicker as everyone gets back into routine! just a few notes and reminders:
- If you need a new or extra PPU Car Tag, please email pevely-secretary@dunklin.k12.mo.us so a copy can be sent home with your student.
- For transportation changes: please email pevely-secretary@dunklin.k12.mo.us before 2:30PM. You will receive a response via email when the message has been received.
- AM Drop-Off: If your student does not need assistance opening their car door and exiting the vehicle, you do not need to wait for a staff member to come to the car. They are welcome to get out anywhere along the sidewalk from the back of the building to the South Gym area.
Buddy Bench Competition
The PE Department is holding a classroom competition during the first semester of the school year! We are asking that students bring in clean plastic lids from containers such as yogurt, cottage cheese, butter, toothpaste, milk jugs, soda bottles, etc. We cannot take lids from cleaning supplies, bleach, etc.
Why are we doing this? 🙂
A former Pevely Elementary student, Morgan Anderson, passed away from a severe asthma attack a few years ago her family has established a foundation called the "Morgan S3 Foundation". Morgan was a huge advocate of volunteering and showing kindness. The foundations will take the collected lids and send them to a company that will make a "Buddy Bench" from them. We currently have one on our playground now and would love to have an additional bench in honor of Morgan! This project will not cost us anything and we will be recycling as well as creating another opportunity for kids to connect at recess. Plus, Morgan's memory will live on!
Thank you so much for your help!
If you have any questions, please contact Coach Meda or Coach Cappozzo for more information.

We are also happy to collect anything that you would like to donate to Gracie's family and will make sure they receive it.
Please keep Gracie and her family in your thoughts and prayers during this extremely difficult time.

Pencils for Pevely!
The Pevely Police Department implements a new community program: PENCILS FOR PEVELY.
The Pevely Police Department, in partnership with Pevely Elementary School, has implemented a new program, PENCILS FOR PEVELY. The Department will work with the Pevely community to collect school supplies for our elementary school students.
Pevely Police Chief Mark Glenn stated that “pens and pencils really do matter.” Students who have the basic supplies experience an overall better learning experience. As a community, we can work together to ensure that Pevely Elementary School students have the tools they need to succeed.
You can help us as we collect the following items:
• #2 Pencils
• Crayons
• Headphones (wired)
• Expo Markers
• Glue Sticks
• Glue Bottles
• Wide-Ruled Notebooks
• Play-Doh
• Ziploc Bags
• Tissue boxes
• Pink Erasers
• Paper Towels
• Hand Sanitizer
School supplies can be dropped off anytime at the Pevely Police Department at 401 Main Street.
