Principal Update
The 2024-25 school year in finally here. Thank you for everyone's patience as we work through the last bit of construction in our school. We are excited about the improved secure entrance and the improvements to our special education classrooms.
I want to highlight two points of emphasis during this school year that are listed below. The first being our cell phone policy at DMMS, we will be even tighter on cell phone and air pods this year. Families will be asked to pick up cell phones and air pods more often than previous years for repeat violations.
The second change I would like to emphasize is the change in our grading scale from using letters to a 1-4 system. The goal of this change is to make it easier for families to understand how their student is doing. There will be increased progress reports that will be emailed quarterly. An email detailing this change will be sent once the dust settles on the new year (and our construction).
Both of these changes are focused on improving the learning experiences of our students at DMMS. Thank your for partnership on these focus areas.
Gratefully,
Principal Hyer

We have an inventory of our curriculum, testing, and assessment tools posted on our district website at bit.ly/4835DET (or directly to our Learn Platform page bit.ly/3R9xvRB). This list is maintained and communicated annually to all families at the start of the school year.
Please reach out to your building principal for additional questions regarding the use of the specific digital tools in classrooms. Please reach out to MAPS technology department regarding data, privacy, and vendor inquiries of the specific digital tools.

Technology Update
In the coming weeks, students that use their MAPS email addresses for their personal Apple ID will receive an email, from Apple, with directions on how to change the email associated with their Apple ID.
Students will need to follow the directions in this email to change their current Apple ID from a MAPS email address to a personal email address. This change will ensure they keep their data and any paid apps they may have purchased.
The MAPS domain (isd77.org) will be utilized for MAPS managed district Apple ID accounts and can no longer be used for personal Apple IDs
Schedules
Please make sure to check Infinite Campus and review your schedule and locker before the first day of school as there may be minor adjustments.

Drop Off And Pick Up
Construction will continue throughout the 2024-25 school year as work on the new pool progresses. Construction fences and concrete barriers (see attachment remain in place around the parent drop-off/pick-up area.
To help reduce congestion on Howard Drive and in the DMMS parking lot, we offer the following suggestions:
Student Pick-Up and Drop-Off Areas:
School Lot: Please use both lanes and take turns merging near the pick-up/drop-off area.
Crossview Church: Please enter the parking lot and find a parking space. DO NOT stop or park in the roundabout, as this may result in a ticket.
Caswell North: Please find a place to park and wait for your student. Students may use the trail from campus to Caswell North.
