From Your Pastors
Dear Zion family –
Holy Week is here, and we have a slate of services designed to help us commemorate and celebrate all Jesus has done for us. Please join us for worship this week! You’ll be blessed when you do. Here’s what’s in store:
April 17: Maundy Thursday worship with Communion at 6:30 pm in the sanctuary.
April 18: Good Friday Tenebrae worship at 6:30 pm in the worship center.
April 19: Easter Saturday kids’ service at 10 am in the worship center, followed by an egg hunt in the field and Bomb Pops as a special treat! An Easter Vigil service will also be held at 6:30 pm in the worship center.
April 20: Easter sunrise worship with Communion at 6:30 am in the Garden of Praise and Easter worship at 8 am in the sanctuary and 10:45 am in the worship center. An Easter breakfast will be served all morning long in the lobby as a fundraiser for our youth.
This Sunday is Palm Sunday, when we’ll celebrate Jesus’ humble ride into the city of Jerusalem on a donkey. We’ll wave palms in worship and we’ll look at the story of Palm Sunday, found in Mark 11:1-11:
As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage and Bethany at the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two of His disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and just as you enter it, you will find a colt tied there, which no one has ever ridden. Untie it and bring it here. If anyone asks you, ‘Why are you doing this?’ say, ‘The Lord needs it and will send it back here shortly.’” They went and found a colt outside in the street, tied at a doorway. As they untied it, some people standing there asked, “What are you doing, untying that colt?” They answered as Jesus had told them to, and the people let them go. When they brought the colt to Jesus and threw their cloaks over it, He sat on it. Many people spread their cloaks on the road, while others spread branches they had cut in the fields. Those who went ahead and those who followed shouted, “Hosanna! Blessed is He who comes in the name of the Lord! Blessed is the coming kingdom of our father David! Hosanna in the highest heaven!” Jesus entered Jerusalem and went into the temple courts. He looked around at everything, but since it was already late, He went out to Bethany with the Twelve.
The people in Jerusalem in Palm Sunday were excited – not because of Jesus Himself, but because of the expectations they had for Jesus – that He would solve their national and political crisis by dispensing with their Roman colonizers. But when He didn’t, many turned on Him. How do we react when the expectations we have for God are dashed? God’s plans are greater than our expectations! Find out more this weekend in worship. We worship at 8 am in our beautiful historic sanctuary, at 10:45 am in our wonderful worship center, or online at zionwalburg.org.
Your pastors love you!

Women's Book Club
Ladies, our next book club gathering is Friday, May 9, from 11-1. We meet in the Zion parlor. The great thing about this book club is that you can come when you are able or find the book interesting and want to share thoughts. You don’t have to attend every month. Each month is a new book.
Our May book is “ West With Giraffes” by Lynda Rutledge. This novel is based on an historical event and is a favorite recommendation from other clubs.
Contact Deborah Albers at 512-527-4858 for more information.
Senior High Youth Fundraising
Thank you so much to the Zion congregation for your help in raising funds for our Senior High Youth! We are still short around $10,000 because we have over 30 high schoolers going to the Youth Gathering in New Orleans this summer. If you would like to support us, click the link below to help fund our trip and change the lives of these youth for Christ!

Fieldhouse Project
Zion’s fieldhouse project is underway! We are preparing to raze the old garage down the hill so we can break ground and begin building our new fieldhouse that will help expand our athletics program and offer a place for concessions when we host games. This project is thanks to some generous donors who love our school. You can donate, too! If you’d like to support the fieldhouse project, you can write a check to Zion with “Fieldhouse” in the memo portion, or you can give electronically by clicking the button code below.
