A Note From Mrs. Diee

Hello, Lyncrest Families!

The Student Council is excited to announce our "Soup-er Bowl" soup collection to support those in need! Each classroom will have a collection box, and we encourage students and families to contribute canned soups throughout the week. Currently, 3rd grade is in the lead! Let’s see which class can bring in the most! To wrap up the collection, staff and students are invited to wear their favorite jerseys on Monday, February 10th, as we show our team spirit and commitment to helping others. Thank you for your generosity and participation!

On Monday, 1/27, we will hold our annual Staff vs. 4th Grade Student Volleyball Game! The game will be in the gym and begin around 3:05pm. The third grade committee will be selling snacks.

Please be sure to check out the Valentine's flyer below from the PTO. There are several options available to celebrate with your loved ones!

Mark your calendars! Registration for the Abrakadoodle and Mad Science after school programs will begin on January 25th and is limited to 15 students in K-2 and 3-4. Information and link are below.

Technology with Mrs. Hennion

Kindergarten learned about pixels this week. They learned that they are tiny squares that can light up and when a bunch are together, they can form a picture. It was explained to them that pixels are what make up our computer screen so that we see the images that we do. We talked about how pixels can be different sizes. They practiced working with cubes to make some pixel art. Next week they will create some pixel art on their computers by using the mouse skills they have been working on this year.

Grade 3 and 4 were introduced to Ozobots this week. They are tiny robots that follow lines and respond to code. The students were exploring how the robots would move on the various lines they drew. Next week, they will explore how the robots respond to color combinations within the black lines.

Lyncrest Teacher of the Year - Mrs. Jane Chahine

Lyncrest School is proud to announce Mrs. Jane Chahine for the prestigious Teacher of the Year award. With 20 years of dedicated service in education, Mrs. Chahine continues to inspire students, colleagues, and the school community with her passion, unwavering commitment, and innovative teaching methods.

As a third-grade teacher, Mrs. Chahine transforms her classroom into a vibrant hub of learning, where every moment is a teachable moment. Her ability to seize opportunities for growth—whether during a structured lesson or a spontaneous classroom discussion—ensures that her students are always engaged, challenged, and inspired. She tailors her teaching to meet the diverse needs of her students, fostering a love for learning and instilling confidence in each child to reach their fullest potential.

Beyond her classroom, Mrs. Chahine takes her dedication to education even further by serving as the Student Council Advisor. Under her leadership, the Student Council thrives as a platform for teaching governance, teamwork, and service learning. She has introduced meaningful projects that encourage students to think critically about their community and the world around them. From organizing school-wide initiatives to planning service projects, she ensures that students not only learn about leadership but also practice it in impactful ways.

Lyncrest Educational Specialist of the Year - Miss Amanda Pook

Lyncrest School is proud to announce Miss Amanda Pook for the esteemed title of Educational Specialist of the Year. Her unwavering dedication, positive outlook, and tireless efforts have made an immeasurable impact on both students and staff at Lyncrest School.

Amanda Pook exemplifies excellence in her role as a speech-language pathologist. She goes above and beyond in supporting the students on her caseload, tailoring interventions to meet each child's unique needs and celebrating their progress with encouragement and care. Her expertise extends far beyond speech services; she proactively collaborates with classroom teachers, sharing resources and strategies to support all students, not just those she directly serves. Her commitment to student success is evident in every interaction, whether she is helping a teacher address classroom challenges or equipping students with the tools they need to thrive academically and socially.

Her influence doesn’t stop in the classroom.
