Hi Club Hill STEM Families,
I’m excited to share that our PTA's Wish Upon A Tree is up through this week! Please consider gifting a wish to a staff member. Please note that we will continue MAP testing this week, so there will be no lunch deliveries allowed during this time. This Friday, December 13 will be our last family lunch day for the semester. We will resume family lunch day Friday, January 17, 2025.
We also have a fun student dress-up days (participation is optional) for December 16 -20. Additionally, we’ll have Winter STEM Festival this Thursday, December 12. This event is sure to be lots of fun PTA will have concessions and Pictures with Santa so be sure to bring some cash.
Mark your calendars for our Holiday Concert on December 19th! Our students will perform in two sessions that evening K2 and 3-5, and it’s sure to be a wonderful evening. This event will most likely bring in a packed house so be sure to arrive early for good seats.
As a safety reminder, please be extremely cautious in the car line during morning drop-off, especially from 7:45 - 8:00 when the sun can create a glare and traffic is at its peek. Your patience and slow driving help keep all our students and staff safe.
If you’re not already following our school Dojo page and your student’s teacher’s page, please do so! These pages are the best way to stay informed about everything happening on campus.
Let’s make it a fantastic wrap on the first semester, and thank you for your continued partnership!
Warm regards,
Mrs. Allen

How can you help you child with reading at home?
As we finish the first semester and head into the second, it's important to continue practicing skills at home to support your child's success. Here are some simple and effective ways parents can help their students build strong reading habits and a love for learning:
- Read daily. Share a story at bedtime, read recipes together or enjoy a book after dinner to create a daily reading habits.
- Model reading. Let your child see you reading and hear you talk about it to inspire them.
- Point out print. Read signs, recipes, cereal boxes, and more to highlight everyday reading opportunities.
- Visit the library. Explore books, story times, and resources your local library offers.
- Create a reading-rich home. Keep books accessible and create cozy spots for reading.
- Encourage reading. Praise young readers and set aside time for older kids to read for pleasure.
- Keep books handy. Carry books or eBooks to read during waits or while traveling.
- Start traditions. Share holiday favorites, create family read-aloud nights, or give special books as gifts.
- Let kids choose. Offer books that match their interests and expand their horizons.
- Be an active reader. Use voices, sound effects, and point out details to make reading fun.
- Discuss and ask questions. Talk about the story, ask questions, and encourage your child to share their thoughts.
- Encourage re-reading. Repetition helps kids connect with books and build fluency.
- Connect reading and writing. Write stories together or about your family to link the two skills.
- Link books to experiences. Pair books with activities, like reading about animals after a zoo visit.
- Have fun. Tailor reading to your child’s interests and enjoy the experience together.
By incorporating these practices, parents can make a significant impact on their child’s learning and growth.
