Greetings everyone and a warm welcome!

It's always a joy to begin a new chapter as we welcome back our returning students and families, along with those joining us for the first time at Butterfly School!

This year marks a special anniversary as Riverside Butterfly School enters our third decade nurturing young minds and creating lasting memories with our incredible students and their families, As we celebrate our 30 year anniversary, we want to thank you for being apart our our journey!

This SMORE Newsletter serves as a convenient way of keeping our families at Butterfly School, updated with information regarding our school. Please take time to read the newsletter each month. The updated news letter is also posted on our website.

For your convenience, important monthly dates will also be posted on the monitor by the stairs as you walk in the door.

Tracy, our assistant director at Butterfly School, provides invaluable assistance in keeping Butterfly School running smoothly. Her attention to detail and commitment to our students and staff make a tremendous difference every day, Her hands-on science class on Friday is a favorite with all our PreK students. I am truly grateful to have her by my side!

These fantastic educators are what makes RBS an outstanding school. These dedicated professionals make a huge difference in the daily lives of our students. Each of these fantastic teachers plays an important part in the success of our school. They are a genuine blessing to our children every day.

Last week, parents were sent a video along with a Safety Team video from Mr Bob. Here is a recap of The TEN ABCs and 123s of Butterfly School parents absolutely need to know. Take a moment and read through each one- I will gladly answer any questions you might have.

The 10 THINGS PARENTS need to KNOW and comply with:
1. It is important to read and understand The RBS Parent Handbook. Most of the points listed below are policies further detailed in the RBS handbook. You have signed a document acknowledging your understanding of these policies.

2. For the safety of our students, parents and staff, there is a One Way Traffic Pattern. It is stated in our Parent Handbook that we require that all drivers to comply. Our parking lot and school building are a 'NO CELL PHONE' zone. Please do not walk in the building talking on your cell phone.

3. Daily punctuality for drop off and pick up is an absolute expectation at RBS. Be on Time. Chronic tardiness can be grounds for dismissal.

4. Sign in and out each day. This is a State of Texas requirement, if you forget, you will need to return to school to do so, don't forget.

5. There is a 30 day written advance notice upon leaving RBS to prevent a draft on your account.

6. Beginning in our threes classes, children should be Completely Potty Trained. That means independent and not ‘almost’. A potty trained child does not wear pull ups.

A Completely Potty Trained child should be able to:

• ·A. Pull down clothes

• ·B. Get on potty

• ·C. Use toilet tissue , clean/wipe when finished

• ·D. Get off potty

• ·E. Pull up clothes

• ·F. Wash hands with soap

7. Underwear is required to be worn by all students in the threes classes and up.

8. Bathing is necessary– strong smells in small rooms are distracting.

9. We welcome our families to stay a few minutes after school to let their child play on the playground. It is helpful to stop by the bathroom BEFORE you and your child leave the building.

10. We love what we do at Butterfly School and we are good at it! At some point, your child’s teacher will tell your child ‘no’. Hopefully, we will not be the first person in their lives to say that word to them!

Our wonderful Riverside Safety Team is led by Bob Monroe. He is responsible for scheduling and staffing our volunteers. We are incredibly grateful for the dedication and support of the men of the RBS Safety Team. They volunteer their time to ensure the safety of our families in our parking lot. Their presence and commitment help create a secure and welcoming environment for everyone!

Each month our specials teachers post highlights of what is happening in their classes.

I am so excited to start a new year at the Butterfly School as the Chapel teacher. The Bible has so much to teach us and stories that will amaze us. Every Wednesday, I will post about our day and share what we learned and sang. So much fun and learning and singing awaits! We will start this year with "God helps us grow and learn about him" Samuel 3:19 . Our first few classes will be an introduction to holding a bible, what it looks like, feels like and what’s inside! We will learn new Bible songs and see what stories and adventures await us this year in Chapel!

Welcome friends! I’m Ms. Jenny and I am so excited to have some fun in music class with you! I hope you’re ready to sing, dance, move, and experience some musical instruments! I look forward to seeing all my present and new butterfly friends soon!

I hope everyone had a wonderful summer. I can’t wait to meet some new shining faces. We will start off the school year learning about primary and secondary colors and introducing students to artists. Our artwork will reflect the artist of the month. Make sure to check out the Art bulletin board by the 3s hall. See you all soon.
