Family Update
Week of March 10, 2025

Message from the Principals
Skyline Families,
March is here, bringing new opportunities and exciting celebrations! Here’s what you need to know for the coming weeks:
Trimester 2 Exams & Trimester 3 Kickoff
As we wrap up Trimester 2, students should be preparing for their final exams next week. Please check with teachers for specific schedules and review expectations. Trimester 3 begins Thursday, March 13, offering a fresh start for students to set goals and finish the year strong. This is a great time to reset, refocus, and recommit to academic and personal success!
Women’s History Month
March is Women’s History Month, a time to celebrate the achievements and contributions of women throughout history. Here are some ways to honor this month:
- Read a biography of an inspiring woman
- Discuss influential women in history at home
- Support women-owned businesses or artists
💡 Quote of the Week: “Well-behaved women seldom make history.” – Laurel Thatcher Ulrich
March is Reading Month!
Encouraging a love for reading is a key part of lifelong learning! Here are some ways to celebrate:
- Set a family reading goal for the month
- Visit the local library for new book recommendations
- Challenge yourself to read a book outside your usual interests
We encourage all students to dive into a good book and explore new ideas!
Thank you for your continued support in making our school community strong. Let’s make this month a great one!
Go Eagles!
Your Skyline Administration Team,
Casey Elmore, Crystal Fluker, Terri Patterson, Lamanzer Williams and Delsie Sissoko

Senior Picnic Volunteers Needed!
As we approach the end of the school year, we are gearing up for the much-anticipated senior activities that will create lasting memories for our graduating class. To ensure these events are truly special, we are seeking enthusiastic parent volunteers to join our planning committee.
Our aim is to make the senior year experience exceptional for our 12th graders and their families. We believe that by working together, we can create moments that will be cherished for a lifetime. We invite parents from grades 9, 10, and 11 to step forward and contribute their time and ideas to make this happen (12th grade parents are welcome too).
By coming together as a community, we can share the responsibilities and alleviate the workload on our 12th grade parents, allowing them to fully enjoy and savor these precious moments with their graduating seniors. Your involvement will not only enhance the experience for all students but also strengthen the sense of community within our school.
Whether you have previous event planning experience or are a first-time volunteer, your unique perspective and skills are valuable. We welcome fresh ideas and diverse input to ensure that our senior activities reflect the richness of our school community.
If you are interested in being part of this exciting planning committee, please complete the google form linked here and plan to attend our upcoming zoom meeting on Friday, March 14th at 8:00am. Your commitment, no matter how big or small, will contribute to making our senior year celebrations truly unforgettable.
Let's come together to pay it forward and create magical moments for our seniors. Thank you in advance for your support and dedication to making this a memorable year for all!

Rotary Fights Child Hunger Donation Drive
We have begun the 2025 Rotary Fights Child Hunger Donation Campaign, which will run through Friday, March 14th.
All donations collected go to Food Gatherers, Washtenaw County's only food bank and food rescue program. Food Gatherers distributes to 140 non-profit partners and programs working to alleviate hunger in our community, including Ozone House, Peace Neighborhood Center, Community Action Network, the Shelter Association of Washtenaw County and Hope Clinic.
Hunger is real in Washtenaw County, and many of our friends and neighbors are facing food insecurity. We know that when children have enough food to eat, they can concentrate on doing well in school, playing sports and graduating.
Unfortunately, funding for some federal nutrition and social service programs has recently been paused, and more drastic cuts are expected during the upcoming budget reconciliation process, further increasing food insecurity in our community. Please join with the AAPS this year to help offset federal funding reductions and alleviate child hunger in our community.
AAPS buildings participating in the drive this year will provide more information to staff and students today. If your building is not participating, please visit the Rotary/Food Gatherers website and consider donating through one of the AAPS teams listed.
