Collaborative Instruction Highlights
ISA World Geography
LEE Library partnered with ISA's Ms. Li and Ms. Pena to create research opportunities for 9th grade ISA World Geography students who were preparing for speeches about climate change.
Spanish II
Spanish II teacher Ms. Zepeda and the LEE Library collaborated on an inquiry lesson lesson that focused on various celebrations and traditions. Students utilized numerous databases that provide source material in Spanish. The learning activity allowed students to practice inquiry skills as they strengthened their abilities to read and comprehend Spanish.
English I Pre-AP
How do cultural and historical context influence an author's decisions? Mrs. Ander's English I Pre-AP students under the guidance of student teacher Ms. Grimes sought answers to this question by using LEE Library databases to better understand the circumstances surrounding the writings of two different essayists.
Instructional Technology & Library Collaboration
Teachers and faculty members preparing for the new laptop deployment February 17 had an opportunity to visit the LEE Library to learn how to save data to the cloud using OneDrive. Sessions were held each class period; over 50 teachers and faculty members attended.
Black History Month in the LEE Library
Students and teachers joined the LEE Library as we celebrated Black History Month by perusing our collection of fiction and nonfiction titles curated to highlight the experiences of African Americans. Students recommended books to be added to our display. One of the most popular checkouts from the fiction side of our display was the novel The Hate U Give by Angie Thomas.
Black History Month with ABC CLIO
The following is excerpted from NEISD Library Services: Are you looking for a source that provides multiple primary sources for teachers and students? Look no further than ABC-CLIO! During Black History Month, check out The American Mosaic: The African American Experience. Students can follow the history of voting rights from the Fifteenth Amendment during the Civil War and Emancipation time period, through the Rise of Jim Crow, and the Civil Right Movement, into the rise of urban politics into the present.
Teachers can select the spotlight on Working With Primary Sources, located on the home page. This resource provides tips and worksheets for analyzing a wide variety of primary sources, including art, speeches, editorial cartoons, government documents and more. Teaching students how to analyze a primary source gives them tools for presenting their own informed opinion on a topic, and prepares them for further research.
