LCAP Survey
It is that time of the year where we need your input to determine how effective OUSD is in achieving its Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP) goals. Here’s why it matters:
Funding Prioritization: Schools receive funding based on identified priorities in the LCAP. Families’ input helps guide decisions on where to allocate resources.
Addressing Student Needs: Families can express concerns about students' academic and social needs, including mental health, support services, and extracurricular activities, which the district can then address.
Educational Equity: The survey allows families to highlight specific needs in underserved communities, ensuring equitable distribution of resources to help all students succeed.
Accountability: LCAP provides transparency on how funds are used. When families complete the survey, they help hold the district accountable for fulfilling its promises to improve school quality.
In short, completing the LCAP survey empowers families to shape the educational experience in our district, advocating for a better environment for their children and their peers. This survey should take less than 10 minutes to complete. All information you provide is anonymous and individual responses will be kept confidential. It will only be viewed by authorized staff for use in the evaluation of the District’s progress in achieving our LCAP goals. We hope you will answer every question honestly, but you may skip any question you do not wish to answer.

LCAP + Crescent Focus Group
In addition to doing our LCAP survey, we would like to hold a focus group to discuss the great things happening at Crescent and areas of need for our student and community. Please join us on:
Date: Wednesday, November 20, 2024
Time: 8:30 am
Location: MPR
Breakfast and Lunch Menus
.
Save the Date: Picnic with a Loved One
We are thrilled for our Picnic with a Loved on on Friday, November 22 from 12:00-1:00 pm. Please take a few minutes to read our updated guidelines:
- Date: Friday, November 22
- Participating Grades: 1st-6th Grade
- Timeframe: 12:00-1:00pm
- When can parents enter the school? Parents can enter 30 minutes prior to the picnic to set up their area. Please note we are going to ask parents to sign in this year so please arrive early. Once you set up your area, please line up near the main office building inside the gate. We will have people directing where to line up. A few minutes before we start, we will allow parents to go to the specified area to pick up their child. Classroom teachers will notify you as to where.
- Where do parents sign in/ line up? Parents will line up at our main entrance and dismissal gate.
- Where can we set up our picnic? NEW this year, all picnics are to take place in our field. We will not have picnics at the lunch tables or in the quad. The reason behind this change is to lessen the congestion and have a space for students whose parents are unable to attend.
- What can I bring to the picnic? Something yummy to eat, a picnic blanket and/or camping chairs. Please no shade structures or umbrellas.
- Can we join our child at the playground/blacktop for recess? No, we have over 800 students who will want to play on the playground/blacktop . Our noon supervisors will take over noon supervision.
- Can I bring games? You can bring board games, frisbee, jumprope ,etc. Please no soccer balls, baseball, volleyball, or basketballs.

Cougar Dash
Thanks to all of you for getting our Cougar Dash off to a great start! It's been a successful Week 1 with just over $10,000 raised so far! If you haven't registered yet, please take a few minutes to do so. We currently have 109 of our 800 students signed up. If everyone pitches in, even just a little, I know we can reach our goal! Remember, all donations raised come back to the school to help fund programs for all our students.
In addition to the prizes students can earn, there are still more additional challenges coming for a chance to win fun activities! Challenge #1 awarded the Top 5 fundraisers per class with a goody bag. We are extending this Challenge another week for our 6th graders only to give them a chance to win now that they are back from Outdoor Ed. (Welcome back!)
P.S. Don't forget the Grand Prize...the student per class who raises the most by the close of the Fundraiser gets to silly string Dr. Murray!!
Thank you again and Happy Halloween week Cougars!
