5ESSENTIALS SURVEY - Response Requested
5Essentials Survey | Click here to take it
Thank you to the 8% of Patton parents that have already completed the survey!
If you have not already, please take a few minutes to complete the 5Essentials Survey. Your participation in the parent portion of the survey will help us understand the conditions at our school and guide improvement. A report will be generated only if we have 20% parent participation.
Survey Link: https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/?target_name=parent
*Your identity and survey responses will be kept completely confidential and will never be connected to you or your child.*
Student Survey (Grades 4-8 ONLY)
The Illinois 5Essentials Survey will be administered at Patton in the near future. For a copy of the questions, click here (survey content hasn't changed since 2022).
If you do not want your child to participate, fill out the information at the bottom of this form (linked here) and ask your child to return this sheet to their teacher.
PATTON FOOD DRIVE (NEW POST)
A huge THANK YOU to everyone that donated food for the Wheeling Food Pantry! We managed to fill 2 CARS (during a chilly Friday lunchtime) with all kinds of food stuffs and the food pantry was very grateful for the haul.
Our Student Council team did an amazing job of raising awareness of the food drive and encouraging friends and family to donate! As always, we are so in awe of the Patton Panther spirit that gets unleashed during initiatives like this! THANK YOU AGAIN!!!
100 DAYS OF SCHOOL! (NEW POST!)
We reached a pretty big milestone this week and our Kindergartners celebrated with an (adorable) cape-clad parade through the school! We also started to fill up our "100 THINGS WE LOVE ABOUT PATTON" bulletin board! I took advantage of some indoor recess time to ask our students what they loved about Patton and I loved some of their answers! I so appreciate the community we have here at Patton and it makes me so glad to know that our Panthers love coming here every day!
VALENTINE'S DAY PARTIES (FINAL POST)
Valentine's Parties will take place on Tuesday, February 14th.
Students are welcome to bring in Valentine's cards for all of their classmates - please do remember that no food or candy of any sort can be attached or used as Valentines. Thank you for your cooperation. We greatly appreciate our room parents and all of our volunteers who organize and provide fun Valentine's experiences for our students!
NATIONAL PTA REFLECTIONS FINALISTS (NEW POST)
We celebrated our National PTA Reflections Regional/State finalists this week! Each student received a certificate and we were delighted to share with them that they would be recognized at the next school board meeting! We are excited to hear how our State Finalist, Joe Scapillato does in the next round of the competition. Joe composed his own piece of music, a dramatic piano solo entitled "Heroes Reign". We will find out soon if he advances to the National finals!

SPARE CLOTHING (NEW POST!)
Mud season is most definitely upon us (a bit earlier than usual!!) so we recommend packing a change of clothes in backpacks. We do try our very best to keep students off the field and away from the mud during recess but sometimes accidents happen and pants/socks can get wet and dirty very quickly. We do have a very small supply of extra clothing, but they can get used up very quickly and are limited in size.
It definitely makes for a more comfortable afternoon if a student can sit in dry, warm clothes that fit and are familiar.
Thank you for helping us with this!
BOOK DRIVE (2nd POSTING!)
Let's help these wonderful Hersey students and support a fabulous cause! Books can be dropped off in the front office until February 17th! Please do note the very helpful "Books We Cannot Accept" information below! We have already managed to fill a box and would love to get a couple more filled and collected before the deadline!!
4th & 5th GRADE FEBRUARY HOMEWORK CLUB (Ongoing Post)
Take advantage of not having to deal with the car line and/or the freezing cold blacktop pickup after school and have your 4th or 5th grader stay after school on (most) Tuesdays in room 255!
Mr. Morkert will provide a quiet space where kids can work on assignments, read, or get extra help. If interested, you must sign up using the link below (space is limited to 12). Please be sure to include your child's name when you sign them up and note whether you will pick up your child or if they can walk home. CAP kids welcome as well. Please contact Mr. Morkert for any questions (tmorkert@sd25.org).

Mr Morkert is hoping for a few more participants this month! This really is a great way for students to catch up and/or get a bit of help with areas they might be struggling in.
KINDNESS CHALLENGE (Ongoing Post)
For the whole month of February we will be running a "Kindness Challenge" at Patton! We've created a calendar of challenge ideas for our Panthers! Let's try and spread some kindness and smiles throughout the month!
PTA SCHOLARSHIPS (Ongoing Post)
The Arlington Heights Council of PTAs is accepting applications for their 2023 high school senior scholarship program. Nine graduating seniors will be awarded $1,000 each. Six achievement scholarships will be awarded as well as three Power of Courage. Applications are due on February 26, 2023 and the scholarship breakfast will be held on April 27, 2023. If you have any questions, contact d25scholarship@gmail.com.
Traffic Team - Substitutes Needed (Ongoing Post)
We have a truly AMAZING PTA traffic team that ensure our Panthers arrive to and depart from school safely and on time! If you would like to help out, please consider signing up as a substitute by filling in this form. It helps our traffic team enormously to know that there are subs available should someone fall sick or be unavailable. You can indicate if you only have availability for AM or PM and will receive a group text when there is a need. You can volunteer if you are available, but no pressure if you are not available. Any help is appreciated and benefits so many of our students. Believe it or not, even if you can only help twice during the year, your contribution is welcome and needed. Thanks so much in advance!
KINDERGARTEN - Pre-Registration is open! (Ongoing Post)
Pre-Registration for Kindergarten is open and live on the District 25 website HERE. If you don't have a kindergartener but know of people that do, please feel free spread the word and share the link with them!
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to reach out to Mrs. Hamilton or Mrs. Dunning in the office at 847-398-4288.
HARVARD AND MAUDE/HARVARD AND THOMAS - CROSSING GUARD (Ongoing Post)
District 25 has posted openings for crossing guards within the district - and the Harvard and Maude intersection is one of them! If you or anyone you know is interested, please visit this link to apply. The position is available immediately and it would be wonderful to have a crossing guard here daily to help our students safely cross the street. Please help us spread the word and/or consider applying for this position.
Recognize a Staff Member - Give a Pat on the Back to a Patton Staff Member
Patton teachers and staff work so hard to support our students on a daily basis. We invite you to fill out this google form if you would like to recognize a staff member or a team for their hard work. We will pass on the good news to them. Thank you in advance for sending an encouraging word as we know it will mean so much to our staff.
