Hopkins Elementary School Update

• August 21st - HES Open House - 5-6 PM
• August 26th - First Day of School - Half Day
• August 30th - No School
• September 2nd - No School - Labor Day
• September 4th - Picture Day!
• September 20th - Homecoming Football Game & HOPE Tailgater at 5 PM
• October 4th - Vike Hike (Oct 7th is the make up date)
• October 15th - Picture Retakes
• October 22nd & October 24th - Elementary Conferences

My name is Kelly Smith, and I am the new Elementary Secretary. My husband, Mike and I live in Martin, we have 3 adult children, Tyler, Bryce & Sierra Smith. We also have 2 grandchildren. Being a grandparent is amazing!

I have worked in the High School for 7 years as the Athletic secretary however I am excited to begin my new journey as the Hopkins Elementary secretary! Previous to the High School, I was an office manager of a doctors office for 18 years. Now that my children are grown and done with collegiate sports I am looking forward to spending more time with the staff and students at Hopkins Elementary!

As we start the new school year, you may notice a familiar face in a new place at Hopkins Elementary School. We're excited that Mrs. Williams will now be a part of our 3rd grade teaching team at HES! To get to know Mrs. Williams a little more, we asked her a few questions:

• Family: "My husband Kirk and I have been married for 16 years. We have four children Tyler (14), Natalie (11), Reese (9), and Olivia (6)."
• Why did you become a teacher? "I feel like I was born to be a teacher. There is not one time in my life that I can remember wanting to do anything but teaching. I started working in an elementary school in high school and never looked back."
• Anything you would like to share with your future students? "I am so excited to go on this journey over the next year with you. While most of us already know each other I am so excited to learn and grow right alongside of you in the classroom."
