February Staff Feature- Mary Durham
My coworkers are amazing and very dedicated to providing high quality food to the students and staff. I am proud and honored to be a part of their team. I also love all of the students and I look forward to seeing them every day!
What are you most excited about this year at Salish Coast?
I am excited that the students get to have a fun, social lunch break with the peers from their grade level. They are making bonds with each other that will carry them through their school careers.
What is a fun fact about you?
I believe that I seem new to the school to almost everyone. But I have actually worked at Port Townsend School District for thirty years. Perhaps some of the student's parents may remember me from when they were in school?
Families: We Are Here For You
Highly Capable Services Nominations Open February 1st - March 1st, 2023
To nominate your child for the highly capable services, please complete the Referral Packet and Application and Parent Inventory by March 1st. Forms are also available in the school office. Once complete with these forms, please turn into the office by March 1st, 2023.
A committee of teachers, administrators, and an educational psychologist will review the applications along with student work samples, teacher rating scales, and assessment information, which includes the CogAT assessment. Families will be told whether students qualify for the highly capable services by June 2023.
All 2nd graders will take a short version of the CogAT to screen for students who may be highly capable. You can opt your child out by calling the office at 360-379-4535. Those 2nd graders who score above the 90th percentile on the CogAT screener will be invited to take the full Cogat and complete the application process.
If you have any questions please contact Ellen Thomas at 360-379-4888.
