Thank you for making our Valentine's Day celebrations so awesome. Your donations and/or help were so very appreciated. A great time was had by all. On behalf of all of us, thank you for all the donations and support.
This week, we will celebrate Random Acts of Kindness Week, which runs from February 18th-21st. This week is a wonderful reminder for all of us to practice compassion, spread positivity, and reflect on how small acts of kindness can make a big impact in our communities.
As you can see above, the famous family STEAM Night is coming to Northridge Elementary on March 12; 6:00-7:30 pm! This beloved family event celebrates Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math in exciting and engaging ways. We have an amazing STEAM program in place in our school, with classes directed by Amanda Webb. We have team of dedicated teachers running our clubs. As you know, our STEAM clubs, led by Mr. Elkhoury, Mrs. Nutt, and Mrs. Webb, are always ready to showcase the wonderful learning happening here in our school. They have provided exceptional experiences for our students. This evening STEAM event is a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate STEAM in our school community. Superintendent, Dr. Michael, had a vision and brought STEAM to life in our school community. We are forever grateful for belief in STEAM programming being best for our children. Our vibrant program is emphasizing the importance of STEAM education in today’s world, by tapping into the creativity and potential of all our students. Our NES STEAM evening will feature community organizations including The Works, Soil and Water, Dawes, etc. Stations will address Makey Makey, planks, brain mindfulness, and more. Great sessions are planned. More details to come.....SAVE THE DATE ...it will be great.
*****For Mr. Elkhoury’s STEAM session, the famous Marble Run building activity, we’re in need of cardboard tubing—empty toilet paper and paper towel rolls! LOTS OF THEN!!! Could you kindly collect these for us? Please send them to school; they will be put to great use! Thanks... you rock,
******By the way....students are removing (uninvited) items from the STEAM room including balloons, marbles, cotton fluff balls, magnets, etc. from the STEAM room. If you find these at home or in bookbags, please talk with your child about not taking items from us and please have them return them to us. Thank you. We want to have the needed hands-on materials for everyone to enjoy.
This month, at Northridge Elementary, we will also be gearing up for the completion of the second semester, which brings both the excitement of the progress we have made and the anticipation of new challenges. The 2nd trimester ends February 28th.
Presidents' Day, February 17th, this weekend, is a time for us to remember the importance of strong leadership and the ongoing role that these leaders play in shaping the country’s values and future. Leadership is challenging, yet so rewarding. We have lots of great discussions and round this theme.
Grade 2 and Grade 4 students will be taking the InView assessments later this month/early March. InView screening assessments are required cognitive evaluations designed to measure students' reasoning and problem-solving abilities. The results help educators understand students' academic strengths and areas for growth, guiding future learning strategies. The results/ data are used to identify children for possible gifted services and additional challenges in classes. More to come on defined specific dates.
We are starting to gear up for next year 2025-2026....... we are preparing for new Preschool registrations, Kindergarten student intent and such. Important reminder: STAY WELL! There continues to be cases of flu diagnosed in our school. According to the CDC, influenza (also known as the flu) is a contagious respiratory illness caused by viruses. It can cause mild to severe illness. The flu is different from a cold. The flu usually comes on suddenly. People who have the flu often feel some or all of these symptoms:
Fever**** or feeling feverish/chills
Cough
Sore throat
Runny or stuffy nose
Muscle or body aches
Headaches
Fatigue (tiredness)
Some people may have vomiting and diarrhea
**** It’s important to note that not everyone with flu will have a fever
