Notes From the Principal
Dear Students and Parents,
Welcome Back to Central Mountain High School for the 2023-24 School Year!
It brings us immense joy to welcome you all back to another exciting year at Central Mountain High School. As we embark on this new academic journey together, we want to express our heartfelt gratitude for your ongoing trust and support in our school community.
Our dedicated staff and faculty have been working diligently over the summer to ensure that the school is ready to provide an enriching and safe learning environment for all our students. We have implemented various enhancements and protocols in line with the latest educational standards and safety guidelines. Rest assured; the well-being of our students remains our top priority.
We are thrilled to share that this school year will bring a multitude of opportunities for growth, learning, and achievement. Our commitment to academic excellence will be further strengthened through innovative teaching methods, interactive classroom experiences, and engaging extracurricular activities. We will also use our School-Wide Positive Behavior plan to celebrate all the amazing students we have at CMHS.
We encourage all students to actively participate in the various clubs, teams, and events that contribute to our vibrant school culture.
To our parents and guardians, we extend our heartfelt gratitude for entrusting us with the education and development of your children. Your continued involvement and support play a vital role in the success of our students, and we value your partnership immensely.
As we begin this school year, let's remember that we are a family, connected by a shared commitment to excellence. Together, we will overcome challenges, celebrate achievements, and create lasting memories that will shape the future of our students.

Jostens Renaissance
Something you will be seeing more and more at CMHS.....
Jostens Renaissance is a framework for building a culture where teachers love their job and students thrive in school. It supports schools as they work to strengthen teacher morale, academic achievement, and character development. We have access to a suite of FREE resources, videos, discussion guides, curriculum, surveys, and idea-sharing. Simply because we partner with Jostens for publication of our yearbook. This year we will be cooking to implement a results formula that works like this. Respect+Recognition+Reward+Reinforcement+ Relationships= RESULTS!!!! The goal: an improved climate and culture at CMHS!! (and other buildings throughout KCSD)
PICTURE DAY!
Bring your smiles!!!

Federal Programs
Start of Year Federal Programs Updates
All elementary schools within the district are Title I schoolwide schools and receive Title I federal funds to support the positions of Interventionist and Title I Associates. We determine how to use the funding to staff our buildings based on family input and our school data. If you are interested in becoming a part of our Title I team, please reach out to your building Interventionist or principal. Our Policy 917/918 meetings are a great place to start, because we always review our School Improvement plans and the most updated school data during those meetings.
At all school levels, we use Title IV federal funds to purchase incentives for PBIS (our positive school-wide behavior supports) rewards, and we emphasize the goal of following school rules in all schools.

CMHS Student Service
A counselor is someone to talk to, who will listen without judgment. A school counselor can assist in short-term counseling and if needed arrange long-term counseling and the SAP (Student Assistance Program) and Tier II support. Counselors can teach students tools to improve and cope with different situations, especially because sometimes it's hard to figure out where to start. Students may be want to see a counselor for the following reasons:
- Want to share an experience/feelings
- Feel depressed and/or lonely
- Have thoughts of self-harm
- Feel stressed and/or anxious
- Feel angry and/or frustrated
- Want to improve grade(s)
- Talk about college/careers
- Relationship/peer issues/conflicts
- Personal issues (divorce/separation, loss of a loved one, etc.)
To learn more or to schedule a meeting, please contact your student's school counselor.
